WrestleMania 29 was "WrestleMania NY/NJ" Summerslam 2015 is in "NY/NJ" HELL, I just learned that an XFL team was called the "NY/NJ Hitmen"
Does Jersey have such an awful stigma that WWE has to shove in New York with it every time in order to make it seem...what, better? More glamorous?

North New Jersey is pretty much New York.
South New Jersey on the other hand is all right.
I say that coming from South NJ.

Most American shows seem to hate New Jersey.
I just watched a Futurama episode a few hours ago where they made a joke about hell being in New Jersey.

As a born and raised north Jersey resident it bothers me, but on the other hand I moved to New York as soon as I had the chance so I get it. We just don't have our own identity despite having such a large population.

It's basic marketing. If you're that close to New York, of course you're gonna take advantage and use the name value

I remember I was reading RAW magazine where they had a story about the typical backstage week at the time. The show was in NJ and Angle was doing the insult the home town gimmick. He said Vince loves NJ so he'll just say something more passive aggressive then insulting.
Vince doesn't hate NJ marketers love NY that much more.

It's because it's New Jersey. Seriously though, for Wrestlemania 29 while technically in New Jersey it is were the New York Giants and New York Jets play their home games. A large majority of Northern New Jersey citizens also commute to New York City for work and I have known at least one person that does this and consider themselves New Yorkers.

The NY/NJ thing is just tacky. Though I'd love an event to do the NY/NJ thing and the team or event actually takes place in New York

It's that or it get decorated with stuff from the Jersey Shore including the cast. Shame that Jersey gets made into a mecca for guidos and guidettes, the Italian Sanitation Businessmen Association, and New York's garbage dump.

But the WWE has always credited New Jersey with being the location of past PPVs. If anything, this is something of a more prevalent mood in sports to......focus more on New York, because that city's name is a MUCH bigger draw than New Jersey.
I mean, where are the New York Giants and New York Jets headquartered out of, and where do they play? New Jersey. So why don't they give NJ a name credit?
With WWE's usage of "NY/NJ," I don't think it's so much New York creeping in, it's the WWE still wanting to give NJ credit when others (like the NFL) kinda don't.
That's how I've always seen it, at least.
