am I alone in thinking this? I never watch all those serious shows (all my friends watch Breaking Bad, Hannibal, Game Of Thrones, Sons Of Anarchy etc.), I was always into South Park, Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad and sitcoms (Friends, HIMYM, Bundies, Urkel etc.)
for the past 2 weeks I watched almost all episodes of Community seasons 1-3 on DVD (I've seen most of season 4 on TV already, think it's pretty underrated actually), and I came to the conclusion that this is the best-written, most original, most touching, most interesting, most caring about their fanbase and most sympathetic show (okay sitcom) of all time
how can you not love the relationships between all the characters? how can you not love the "special" episodes (paintball, Digital Estate Planning, animation eps)? how can you not love all the nerdy & metaphoric references?
how can you compare THIS show to dinosaurs (no disrespect, but hell we're on a different level now!) like Seinfeld, Frasier or Cheers? it's MILES ahead of those great and influential but simply WORSE shows!

The best thing about Community is how it is basically Tv Tropes: The TV show.
This is also what stopped it becoming more than a cult favourite. It will be alot better off online without having to deal with nielsen ratings I think.

Breaking Bad is half a comedy, anyway.

I enjoyed it up until midway through Season 3, and then I realized it just didn't have the consistency of the first two seasons. No real idea why but people assure me something about director/producer backstage drama ruining things/Chevy Chase being demanding as he tends to be in general.
The references are fine and such but as with every show once you have to ride waves of popular nostalgia & tropes too much your writing & characters will suffer for it.
Modern sitcom wise I'd put more stock in Always Sunny.

First season is awesome and I love every episode of it. Second and third seasons are just OK, it felt like they got to 'big' with all the crazy episodes and references and just lost the more ;slice of life' stuff from the first season. I stopped watching part way through three so no idea what the rest is like.

I absolutely love Community.
It's one of my favourite TV shows of all time. However....I'm not sure I can say it's the greatest sitcom of all time. Seasons 1-3 were amazing, I'd never seen a show like it. Season 4-5 however, are just bang mediocre. Really disappointing.
Maybe it's because it's directly after those first three brilliant seasons but it just hasn't been the same since then. I'm just not sure Community's three great seasons tops the 4-5 very good seasons that other sitcoms have had.

I really hope this doesn't turn into a thread arguing what sit-coms are better then Community in people's opinions.
I love Community (and Alison Brie), I only got a chance to start seeing it this year (never shown properly here in the UK for me to be to see it) it was all enjoyable to me (even the gas leak year is not completely terrible) it's a show like Arrested Development and 30 Rock that I know I'm going to rewatch multiple times.

MASH or Cheers gets my vote, but Community is pretty great.

Britta and Annie are my favorite. Britta & Troy were mine before Troy left. Now, along with Britta, it's either Annie or the Dean.

It is not Seinfeld. So no, no it isn't.
Plus, watching paint dry actually could BE a Seinfeld episode. It totally sounds like a Kramer/Newman plot.

What part of TO ME do people not get? The op said it was the best show ever in their opinion, not that it was a proven fact of some type.

I think the show is great until they do the Abed focus episodes. Then the show breaks.
