I remember getting those "Worlds of Power" (book adapatations of NES games) from those. From what i remember, the Blaster Master one was actually pretty good, the Mega Man 2 one was kind of cheesy, and the Wizards and Warriors one was for all intents and purposes a self-insert fic (though done in 3rd person).

I loved them! My favorites were Boxcar Children, and Baby-Sitters Club. School book fairs were also fun. Those were the days when no student was sick, lol

We had one here where you read x number of books and got vouchers for free Pizza Hut meals. Also had a book fair every year or two. That was book it... Book it was awesome... I believe they still do that, but I haven't had pizza hut in probably a year since the one nearest to me has no delivery.

Man I haven't thought about those books in years. I know I don't have them anymore. Looks I need to take a trip to Half Price Books or check Amazon.

I got a book about wrestling from one of those schoolastic type deals, not the flyer though, one of the times they'd leave foldable red cabinets in the school hall for a few days with books for sale. It was mainly photos but had definitions of terms like "babyface" and "going over" causing me to talk like a smark at age 10

You asked people for money based on how many times you could jump rope in a set time. The money went towards school choir or other things like that. I remember pissing my grandpa off because he said he would donate fifty cents for each jump rope jump (or whatever you call it). He ended up paying close to fifty bucks. I used to be good at jumping rope. Now I'm old and beat down.

My school had the Scholastic ones when I went. I think they still do them. As the parent of a Grade Schooler, I can confirm yes, they do and they also still do Book fairs.

We had something called a "Book Fair" and they'd have 3 massive trunks of books on display and we were able to pick what we wanted It was cool That is what we had. Would happen 3 times each school year.

I always loved book club week at school. I always picked the Goosebump books or the Napper McCann series.

Used to be how I got most of my Animorphs books Came here to post this. That shit got me right into reading as a kid. Reading a series for kids with heavy topics made me feel like I'd found something secret, something just for me and entirely my own. I've been an avid reader ever since. AMAZING series. Thank god for those book orders.

They had those Scholastic book club things here in Australia back when I was in primary school; I guess they're probably still running. Never really got much from there because I used to get books to read from the library or simply elsewhere but I do remember getting my dad to fork out for SimTower one time.

I remember ordering a few Star Wars novels and a years subscription to a SW magazine through this. I also ordered a few Goosebumps choose your own adventure style books. I'm sure I ordered at least one book each time the flyers came in, but those are the main ones that stood out.

Those were the days when no student was sick, lol I got into The Baby-Sitters Club via Scholastic book fliers. I got a book about Jessie's mean ass aunt and two green pig erasers. Those erasers smudged up everything, so I used them to make funky color pencil drawing. Thanks big brother!

They had a DJ in the gym while we jumped rope; that was one of the few times I actually liked gym class. Book clubs and book fairs? Oh yeah, we had those. I always got excited when I saw the package from the club on the teacher's desk. I loved that new-book smell.

Have not thought about them in years. I believe they started on us in second grade. When I was in second grade my dad had lost his job so my parents could not afford any of the books. In third grade though I did ordered a poster and also a book called 101 School Cafeteria Jokes. After that they started just doing the book fairs. I also bought quite a few things at book fairs. I remember one time I bought a Dumb and Dumber Joke Book. The substitute teacher we had that day saw it and looked at it and then sent me up to ask the librarian was she going to be there after school as he was wanting to buy a copy of the book I had bought.
