I disagree. It was entirely in character for Cena to me. Cena didn't just want to win the title. He wasn't being vindictive. He had to, for himself, and the Cenation, not just win the match, but BEAT Brock. To Cena's character, a clean pin over a man who murdered him last month is nothing. Brock has been pinned before. Cena has pinned Brock before. Think of Apollo Creed - 'I won, but I didn't beat him!'

Yeah you make a great point, Cena wanted to show that he was still a man.

Exactly. Brock is such a killer, you can't just beat him. You have to destroy him. Cena wanted to make the man who never loses not just lose, but lose BADLY.

This has nothing to do with Cena, I thought he and Brock were great last night. The whole thing was ruined by "ooommmgggg Brock was gonna tap!!!!!!111" from the commentators. Cena had Brock pinned. Would it be so difficult to get that right?

The commentary reached a new low last night with the 'Lesnar was gonna tap!' stuff. He was being pinned when Rollins interfered, AND HE f***ING KICKED OUT! I hope to God Vince wasn't the one telling them to say that. Why book the match to tell a completely different story to the one you're having your announcers put out? Makes everyone involved look ridiculous. The match itself was set out perfectly and made them look like equals, the commentary made it seem like Brock would have been at Cena's mercy if not for Rollins coming to the rescue, and then at Rollins' mercy had Cena not come to the rescue. Baffling.

Baffling. I think the only guy that Vince doesn't tells what to say is Lawler, Meltzer once said that if Vince would ever yell to Lawler, Lawler would just walk away, now Cole always repeat everything VKM says (a shame because given the chance to talk by himself Cole is pretty good) I think JBL is another parrot.

Not really. To be fair, it seemed like he was just in desperation mode. The match itself wasn't bad really so much as the way the ending made it look like "oh, John was totally on the verge of winning you guys." via commentary when really, Brock was withstanding just about everything. Yeah the story in the ring was Cena was getting offense but Brock was basically shrugging everything he did off. (The commentators did talk about this during the match with Cena needs a miracle to beat Brock and such) Then they did the ending and JBL started BUT WAS HE GOING TO TAP?! stuff... even though Lesnar was being pinned and kicked out. JBL sucks but he wasn't the "WAS HE GOING TO TAP OUT" guy that was Cole. He was the one hyping Lesnar being an unstoppable beast he sold the AA being kicked out at 1 and everything but Cole kept shrugging that off . Cole kept going on about how Cena is "dominating" Lesnar.

I don't get it. I really don't.
WWE has the most talented athletes on the planet. Bar none. There aren't a whole lot of people who can do what they do, and do it well, with such consistency. The match quality is generally better than it's been in a good long time. There is a really great mix of characters and storyline drama. The Authority, Miz/stunt double stuff, the Divas issues, Paige/AJ, Sting's floating around somewhere, Dean Ambrose is coming into his own, Bryan and Reigns are waiting in the wings to return and do something. Brock FREAKING Lesnar is back and holding the WWE Championship. Any time they need, Hogan, Flair, HBK, the aforementioned STING, Bruno, Piper, Austin, and (arguably) the Rock, can be brought in to add flavor to an angle. It *should* be a great time to be a WWE fan.
But the shows are just a mess. Half the time you've got commentary either ignoring the match or apparently discussing an alternate reality version of things. You've got this insane xenophobic angle pulled directly out of the 80's (or maybe the 70's). And the last PPV ended with Seth Rollins "costing" John Cena a championship in such a way that Rollins himself nearly became the Champion...with literally ZERO explanation the next night.
John Cena's a stand up guy. He does so much for wounded veterans, for sick kids, for any number of other charities, and has carried to company on his back for a DECADE. He's like Mr. Rogers crossed with the Terminator. But WWE books him in such a way that people over the age of 9 tend to BOO THE CRAP OUT OF HIM.
AJ and Paige are two of the best female wrestlers in the world today. Do they really need BFF/lesbian drama to add to their feud?
People say "WWE is booked based on what Vince McMahon likes". If that's (in any way true), then how has nobody stepped in to say that "Sociopathic often-billionaire" is KIND OF a niche demographic. You'd think the company would know what the fans want, what with the whole TENS OF THOUSANDS OF EXTREMELY VOCAL PAYING CUSTOMERS coming to shows every week.
HEY! Confiscate signs supporting that guy! We don't want it to look like he's popular!
Are you insane?
Zack Ryder.
Oh.
Ballgame, Maggle.
