So the first domino falls...a full twenty minutes earlier than my sinister counterpart predicted. A new age dawns on college football. The Age of THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR!

Well since only about 20 or so schools turned a profit in Athletics, heres the dawn of 2 power conference.
But to be more Serious. Just make Football have its own rules, and conference and then make smaller sports like Baseball and Basketball regional conferances. Can still play OOC against anyone, but cut down on costs. So in Football Texas is with WVU, ISU, KU but in Baseball/Basketball/Softball/Voleyball they are with A&M, Houston, Rice and SMU.

That's the thing though, for some schools in the Power 5, it's more about Basketball then Football (looking at the ACC). I don't know to me, it's bad enough the way College Football is going now towards a damn semi pro league, I really don't want to see rules that are going to make it even more so, and even more exclusive. It's supposed to be about cheering for your alma matter, or the close/homestate school, or maybe a parents or siblings school. Take myself for example, I'm not going to all of a sudden become a Miss St. fan just because Rutgers and Air Force aren't in the Mega Football Gotta Be In To Win The Title Conference. Start lopping more and more teams out of the "top tier" just makes it worse all around to the detriment of those left behind. Cincinnati is a perfect example in football. Good program, always top of the Big East, going and competing in BCS bowl games. They got left behind and the downward spiral has begun.

Cincinnati has placed senior QB Jarred Evans (assault charge) on indefinite suspension. University of Texas athletics director Steve Patterson announced the school will soon begin paying its student-athletes $10,000 a year apiece to cover cost of attendance and likeness rights. And....Texas just earned themselves a lot of high level recruits...

Thing is if the mandate goes down for the $10,000 across the board, for all atheletes, you need to cut costs somewhere. The Sports that will live no matter what are Football, MBB, WBB, Volleyball, Softball and Baseball. Thing is only the top two even draw money. The other 4 are not bad, then you have the other sports which are being floated by those 6. But it will come down to costs. Why should a Cinci, have to send its Volleyball team down to Houston on a Tuesday night this week and then UCF next week when you could have them in a conference with Ohio State, Kentucky and West Virginia. Yes football keeps them relegated at the half step between power 5 and FCS, but overall costs to get to the 10,000 per athlete, using UT is about 600, will save money if you play lesser, even bball closer to home.

IE they are going ahead with it with or without the NCAA sweeping reforms. Mike Finger (@mikefinger) tweeted at 3:26 PM on Wed, Oct 22, 2014: Regarding the out-of-control Steve Patterson story: He said UT would pay $10K stipends ONLY IF the NCAA loses all of its court appeals. Mike Finger (@mikefinger) tweeted at 3:35 PM on Wed, Oct 22, 2014: The point of this is, if O'Bannon ruling holds, EVERY MAJOR PROGRAM will be paying $10K/student. It's not a Texas story.

Couple things on this. Side note, this is why I have such a hard time with paying student athletes...the cans of worms that will get opened just so some football players got some pocket change. They can't start cutting womens sports/scholorships or shorting them in any opportunity just to pay their football players. They'll get hit with a Title IX violation so damn fast, there goes the federal funding. Also depending on the state, they will lose state funding also. Think there's about 28 states where that's in place already. Not sure if Texas is one of them or not. So what do you do, cut mens sports is about the only option. Well what do you do when the mens BB teams want their money, they generate income. This whole damn thing is one giant mess on both sides.

Rumor floating around out there that SMU was putting together a seven year, $28 M package for Mack Brown.

An AFC team executive believes the 2015 draft class is loaded with running backs.
I've seen three big-time backs this fall," the executive said. "(Georgia's Todd) Gurley is special. (Wisconsin's Melvin) Gordon is better than any of the runners from the last draft class, and the kid at Indiana (Tevin Coleman) has rare explosiveness." The exec didn't mention Nebraska's Ameer Abdullah, but some believe the Huskers prospect could flirt with the first round.

Clemson and Texas A&M have scheduled a home/home football series. Sept. 8, 2018 at College Station, Sept. 7, 2019 at Clemson. So they traded Oregon for Clemson then? A bit of a trade down, but it probably fits their non-conference mantra.

Ohio state...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhaahahahahaha! I give you credit for scheduling VT out of conference cause most the SEC SEC SEC schools don't, but to lose to an ACC team sucked once already. Then you have that team go all shitty and screw up your strength of schedule anyway. Its as funny as it is tragic. Urban Liar is getting the karma boomerang. Michigan state wins out they deserve to go to the playoff. Ohio state wins out and I think they get left out in favor of Notre dame if ND wins out
