I think it's in the same category as the Warlord's Sword.... or was it the Bezerker's axe... hell I can't remember. I think I remember some logger gimmick with an axe too. I just don't think nearly-impossible-to-use objects are ever a great idea in wrestling

I think Triple H stretched the believabilty of a signature weapon as far as it's going to go with the sledgehammer. He could so easily kill someone with that thing if he actually swung it in a way where he wasn't obviously trying to protect his opponent by putting his hand over it or hitting the guy directly in the stomach.
Of course all weapon shots are sort of like that now that people realized that concussions...are bad (who knew?)!
