I'm noticing a lot of silence during WCW's great preliminary matches in 1998 PPVs

"WHAT" I don't care where it happens, I hate it. I got about 3 posts in and thought of WHAT. I don't know that there will ever be any crowd reaction that I hate more than this.

One of the worst things from recent times was probably the moment where Davey Richards accidentally top rope double stomped Paul London's head in ROH, it looked like London had received a fatal blow, and the fans started chanting YOU KILLED PAUL. One of those moments where I turned white for a brief period and just couldn't believe what I'd seen, the chant just seemed too much for me. Injuries aren't a good thing to get on a wrestler for, given Davey clearly meant to hit London's chest as per usual. London didn't die of course, he had a severe concussion, but eesh. Okay i am sorry but I really want to see video footage of that. Paul London is one of those guys I just despise and seeing him take any form of punishment is something I just love to see. His elimination from the 2005 Rumble, Kidman SSP him twice (Paul wanted Kidman to be serious), Juventud crushing Pauls face with a 450 splash. Everything You seem like a classy fellow. "I'M NOT A FAN OF HIS WORK, ERGO I WOULD LIKE TO SEE VIDEO FOOTAGE OF HIM GETTING HURT."

The "faggot" chants that can be found on just about any wrestling show before like 2000. I have never heard that chant and I watch a lot of pre-2000 wrestling. Where has this happened?

Chants that embarrass wrestling fans. USA chants when neither guy is *from* the USA. Cheering Jack Swagger during his racist/anti-immigration gimmick. Anybody remember the "She's a crack whore" chants from the late 90's/early 2000's? Don't think those ever made it to WWE TV. "she's a crack whore" made it to WWE TV if you count the One Night Stand PPV's. It was dirrected at Lita. There were also a few "you suck dick" chants.

The WON readers reflexively voting for the women's match as the worst at any given WWE PPV, except NoC recently. This was especially curious when there's a shitty men's match on the card.
There often is.

Syxx would get it occasionally in WCW after doing the bronco buster, sometimes heel Alex Wright when he was doing his dance...just off the top of my head. It was done in the same way as the "Goldberg" chants.

When Bret Hart came back to general indifference. It had been years since he'd last been in a WWE ring, and THAT'S the reaction? Come on, man.

Fan's chanting "A-Train" or whatever at Tensai when he debuted.
It ruined the Tensai gimmick. I'm serious.

My first house show, I got some tickets near the ring. I was super excited, until this boy who was maybe about seven sat next to me with his father in tow. You ever get the creeps about someone you just met, and knew it was gonna be bad? Well, Mark Henry came on (was a bad guy at this point), and this kid shouted some of the nastiest racial epithets I've ever heard. Some fans around me and I were like "What the hell is wrong with this kid?". One fan asked his father to get him to stop, and his father just shrugged and smiled and said "Boys will be boys!". If I had an overpriced beer, I would have dumped it on him.

To be fair, they should've kept his return as a surprise. The fact that they continually advertised it, showing vignettes, and making it quite known that it was official I think ruined the importance of it. I feel they should've kept it a secret or had it happen in Montreal honestly. Plus in my opinion, they waited far too long to have it happen. The perfect surprise return would've been the night Shawn trolled Montreal hard with the tease of him returning.

If Bret came out in Montreal on that 2005, it would have been one of the all time classic pops. However, in 2010 we had the debut of child plants in the crowd. The sight of a 10 year old girl getting hysterical over Bret walking to the ring, when it would be obvious she didn't have a clue who he was, was splendid.
Too much time had passed from a killer reaction from a mainstream audience. If he returned 1999-2002 it would have been epic, all over the world. 2003-2005 would have been great too. But so much had changed by 2010.

Fan's chanting "A-Train" or whatever at Tensai when he debuted. It ruined the Tensai gimmick. I'm serious. The Tensai gimmick was ruined when they had a white Jew from Boston in a post-WM crowd (smarks aplenty so everyone knew who he was) play a Japanese feudal lord gimmick. The gimmick should have just been "here's Albert, he went to Japan, now he's kicking ass, he wants to be known as Tensai in honour of his Japanese experience". Instead they billed him from Japan and gave him Sakamoto as his little bitch.

What was there not to love?

Surprised no one mentioned the crowd shoving and smacking Punk while he was standing there listening to Vince. He was almost shoved down the steps and repeatedly pushed in the head. It's unfortunate the wrong guy got retaliation, but that whole section should be ashamed of themselves.

Any time Shawn Michaels was a heel on-screen. And maybe a few times when he was a face as well. I watched a match a few months ago where it was Owen Hart vs Rip Rogers in WCW. Rogers is doing an effeminate gimmick so naturally Owen leads the crowd in a faggot chant. It's pretty surreal to hear a crowd of mostly kids chant faggot. Here's the video in fact: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjWc1AFWT3g

I've watched episodes of WWF TV from 1986 where not only do they chant that at Adrian Adonis, but the camera zooms in on signs in the crowd that call him that.
