From a positioning point of view, it's kinda annoying that Lisa doesn't take full responsibility for ruining Homer's BBBQ. But, considering the overprotection of Lisa's character and how they put her in the right, it's as good as we'll get besides "Lisa Vs. Malibu Stacy".
However, I still love it, for that wonderful addition to the "Resistance Is Futile" series, and "It's Still Good! It's Still Good!"
Plus, if a cow ever got the chance, he'd eat you and everyone you care about.

My favourite Simpsons joke. One of mine as well. So ridiculously stupid, but will forever elicit a belly laugh out of me.

My problem with this ep is summed up with that line "Actually Dad, I was wrong...too." Why? They were both obviously wrong. Homer was insensitive to Lisa's desire to change her lifestyle for, in her mind, the better, and Lisa (being 8 years old and all) didn't exactly have the tact to address the situation in a gentler way. I mean, like was said earlier, it's not something that really needs to be taken seriously but it's refreshing to see them share the blame instead of trying to assign 100% of it to someone when there's plenty to go around. Nah. Homer reacted to something he couldn't understand like a big dope. Lisa the Simpson family Springfield the Milky Way Galaxy knows very well it's something he can't help doing. But he never did anything to encroach on her lifestyle, like she did to him when she wrecked his barbecue...for him and several patrons who weren't even involved in the conflict

Homer: Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute. Lisa honey, are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal!
Homer: [Chuckles] Yeah, right Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.
Don't know anyone can hate on this episode or the McCartneys' cameo. Just for Apu singing "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" alone.

Well, now, you said earlier that Lisa's age was a mitigating factor for her intentionally disruptive behavior, so I'd like to think that Homer's noted intellectual disability might excuse his occasional lack of tact. and again this all ignores the fact that she inconvenienced many, many more people than Homer in her petty rage

I thought the episode wasn't bad, although I never liked the McCartney scene.

I don't know why but I always found adorable that Santa's Little Helper was the only one who ate Lisa's soup.
Oh yeah and Homer inviting Flanders to his BBQ by accident was hilarious.

This is actually one of my least favorite Simpsons episodes. I was never really fond of it, though the best moments didn't involve Lisa. I liked the Flanders family affair bit. Also, "You don't win friends with salad" was just gold. There were great jokes in the episode, but I didn't like how Lisa was just so preachy in the episode until the end of it. Then again, I am not sure which Lisa-based episodes I actually DO like. Oh, wait, "Lisa's Rival" was a good one. Never mind.

Since I have a number of extremely overbearing vegan friends who are quick to tell everyone why they are superior beings compared to filthy meat-eaters this episode has lost a lot of it's shine for me.
That being said, it has at least a dozen truly fantastic moments, and I can never hate on that. It reminds me of just how phenomenal the Simpsons writers were once upon a time.

Everyone always misses the point of Lisa episodes. It's no accident the Family Guy crossover paired Meg and Lisa.
Lisa was acting above it all to her family. Apu talks to her and then tells her he thinks she's a monster because she's not vegan.....it's as though, they're pointing out there's always another belief and someone always thinks someone else is wrong. Apu teaches Lisa she was wrong, not right.
Lisa is NEVER right in the show. Where do people get this idea Lisa is portrayed as always right?
