...a practical joker in WWE?
Roman with his stupid puke inducing roofie Ice-caps, and now Dean's case of exploding snot. Jesus. Just when I think WWE has their finger on the pulse of what the audience wants and what makes these guys popular, they take said finger off the pulse and jam it up their ass to produce sight gags that only children or a senile carny would find funny.
How hard is it to just have Ambrose be a psycho? You know, the guy they've been portraying for weeks? The guy who was popular because he was different? You know, the guy who thought being stamped on on cement blocks was kind of cool? If THAT guy was going to put something into a briefcase, it'd be anthrax. And then he wouldn't understand (or care) why that was wrong.
But instead? Ya.

Reigns was like that literally only the one time, and we're STILL holding it against him? I know he's a popular target, but I think it's a bit harsh to still treat it like it became his permanent character trait.
Hopefully it will be a one week anomaly for Ambrose as well.

Hopefully it was a one time only thing. I don't think Reigns has done any of that sophomoric crap since, likely because someone told Vince that it went completely against character. The same should go for Ambrose, although they shouldn't have made the same mistake they made with Reigns in the first place.
Is the only babyface in the modern era to avoid this crap Orton from 2010-2013?

Because it worked* for Cena, and he's made the company millions, so therefore every other top face or potential top face must follow suit.
*note: it didn't actually work for Cena

Eh, Ambrose did all the psuedo-shooty stuff, faced down the stooges and security guards, got to have a fight later on, and in the meantime he did something to outfox and humiliate Rollins. It's not like he stood there all night making terrible jokes like Cena.

Not everything needs to be serious 24/7. You're taking it WAY too hard to heart.

Just as Vince spent the mid-90's trying to recreate Hulk Hogan, he has spent the last several years trying to recreate Austin and the Rock.

It goes back even further than Cena. Austin was the king of pranks. Dressing up as a doctor to attack Vince. The beer truck. The kidnapping of Vince with the toy gun. They're trying to replicate that which a much more younger audience so the pranks seem that they're intended with kids in mind.

It's not like he stood there all night making terrible jokes like Cena. Yeah, much like when Roman stopped the joking post-drugging Stephanie's drink, it won't be a big problem. Ambrose joked, but he also faced up to people, embarrassed 'em all, and got ALL his violent shots in. Plus the fans responded amazingly to it as well, so it doesn't feel as unnatural as when human tank Roman Reigns smirked/became a high school cool boy for a single show. Weirdly the reliance on toilet humour has been going down, and most main faces aside from Cena do this once in a while in filler segments which are there so fans can see the people they like.

I found it funny, he likes to mess with Rollins because he takes too seriously.
Besides, is cool to see something different besides "ambrose appears out of nowhere and starts punching rollins in the floor"

I think as a one off or rare thing, it is fine, however, does WWE really deserve that trust? Well, on that I am not sure.

Yeah the crowd really turned on Dean for that one There's a lot of erection jokes to be made whenever I see "turned on Dean" in a WWE forum post, only if I make the jokes other people will water the humour down with titty master dullness. Not to say that doesn't happen anyway...

Was Bryan a "practical joker" during his run at the top this past year? I don't think so.

We did get a Great Kabuki reference on RAW from JBL, so the gag was worth it imo.
