Remember when Cena tried to kill Alberto for cashing in on Punk? When even Punk goes "Well, God knows I've cashed in on enough people." And Cena was all "How dare you, Alberto!" And Cena was so pissed over Punk being screwed out of the title he promptly ran Punk out of the title scene so he could get it himself. And then a year later, Cena was pissed about Punk supposedly cheating to keep the title for nearly a year... even when Punk actually fought fairly to remain champion.

Vince: hold it son, wouldn't you like a real WWE feud.
Fan: But only Ambrose fits in my Seth Rollins feud.
Vince: Ha, are you nuts? John Cena fits in there perfectly. *squeezes Cena in* Look he's fitting right now.
Fan: Ahhhh you broke my Seth Rollins feud.
Vince: broke, or made it better. *hums stand back as he reorganizes old WWE magazines*

Had the announcers played it up like Cena had thrown everything at Lesnar and but Brock just kept coming, before Rollins cashed in and ruined it...there'd be something to this.
Cena would be pissed that, before he could show the world that he had it in him to beat Brock Lesnar, Seth interfered. That'd be a pretty damn compelling story.
But instead, the announcers sold it as "Cena had Lesnar BEAT, but Seth cashed in". That's not drama. That's just contrived wrestlecr...uh...junk. Wrestlejunk. Cena doesn't have to be upset that Seth robbed him of his chance to prove to everyone (and himself) that he had what it took to beat Brock, because the official line is that the pinfall was just a formality. Cena already HAS peace of mind (even though, you know, Lesnar was in the process of kicking out...)
Instead, we get just more fuel added to the "Cena is a hypocrite" fire. Cena, the paragon of virtue who took it upon himself to get all pissy when Alberto and Rollins cashed in their MitB contracts (despite the actual victims understanding the circumstances behind it) is also the FIRST person to not only cash in and LOSE, but the only person to successfully ward off a cash-in attempt.
Think about that last part for a second. Cena is the ONLY guy on the roster who has had the MitB contract cashed in on him by surprise and STILL retained the title. He could have easily boasted about that. "I'd have beaten Brock Lesnar AND Seth Rollins, if he'd have just waited 2 seconds to cash in!"
But, no. Cena's (character is) just pissed that Rollins cost him the title (which he, in his mind, had in the bag) so Raaaarrrrggghhhhh!
Christ, John. Could you at LEAST be angry that Seth kept you from tying Flair's record? I mean, that'd be a pretty legit beef, right?
I'm damn near positive that Creative (and HHH) brought ALL of that up only for Vince McMahon to hand them a piece of paper (possibly the same paper that Funaki carried around with him for years) with the NEW script (written in crayons and scotch) 90 minutes before the show started.

Was it MITB or Rematch clause that Cena dropped on Mysterio seconds after winning the title in a hard fought match.
Still Cena is an unlikable hippocritcal douchebag

is also the FIRST person to not only cash in and LOSE Cena technically won that match via DQ. Was it MITB or Rematch clause that Cena dropped on Mysterio seconds after winning the title in a hard fought match. Still Cena is an unlikable hippocritcal douchebag It was a rematch clause, but as much as it was dick move on Cena's part, Rey was the one who agreed to the rematch that night. That actually doesn't make Cena a hypocrite. To be a hypocrite, Cena would've had to run out right after Rey's victory and have his match right then and there.

Cena didn't beat Brock. Brock kicked out. There's no reason to think that he wouldn't have retained anyway.

I get Cenas' character motivations, but the way they're rolling this one out is just dumb. It's not an interesting triangle situation, it's JOHN CENA *featuring dean ambrose and seth rollins.
Instead of getting something potentially interesting, we get yet more Captain Cornball. It stinks.

Despite what the actual freakin' video shows, Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, and JBL said, over and over and over and... that "Cena had the match won". They reject our reality and substitute their own.

Cena got attacked and had his title match interfered in, and understandably wants to deliver comeuppance to Seth. Whether he had Brock beaten, didn't, etc, is entirely irrelevant to the fact that Cena, as a character, had every reason to believe he had a solid chance at being the champion. He not only lost that chance, he also lost any real opportunity at payback against Brock.
This is kind of a contrived bone of contention with Cena. Yeah, Ambrose deserves revenge more. No, Cena is not obligated to bow out and let Ambrose have it. If the shoe was on the other foot, Ambrose would not do the same for him, character-wise, and we know that to be the case. Cena has zero obligation to give up a chance at retaliation.
Besides, Ambrose has made it clear he is willing to carry this grudge as long as it takes. What reason would Cena have to think he changed his mind now? Furthermore, he has had multiple shots at Seth, while Cena has not had his yet. Should Cena wait his turn, while Seth and Orton would in all likelihood continue to f*** with him in the meantime? The logic is flimsy.

Rollins is pretty much the only top heel that hasn't been divided and conquered by Cena. Nobody else on the roster would be taken seriously in a feud with Cena hence why Cena has become the third wheel in the Ambrose v Rollins feud whilst Brock isn't around.
Honestly they should have just given Cena some time off. If he knows what that is.

Really? The last two Raws have really focused on Ambrose more than the others. He was the running story through the show and saved the day at the end last week. This week, he opened the show and had a big in-ring segment then destroyed Orton and Kane by himself.

If the WWE title and beating Brock is so important to Cena, why doesn't he, you know, go after Brock & Heyman instead? You know, since Brock is the prize anyway? Completely irrational, stupid backwards booking.
And to whoever said that Cena's plight was comparable to Dean's --- come on. That's like saying that a guy who gets his car stolen is equal victim as a guy who was almost murdered in the most savage way possible by his best friend. Not even remotely comparable on any level in any rational universe.

I might have been too harsh, but it just irritates me that he has to be part of this at all, I guess. I'm stoked that Ambrose has been featured like he has, but I still don't trust it. History dictates that the focus always goes back to Cena in the end.

At this point, I feel like they're writing Cena as a heel on purpose, but just didn't bother to actually turn him, so he'll still get cheered.

he's gotta do something until Brock comes back.
You put the title on a guy who isn't around every week, you can't be shocked when the top face starts getting involved in the #2 storyline.

"Rematch clause is used up, see everyone in a month or 2." This is at least revenge he can get now. Whether or not Dean deserves it more doesn't make a whole lot of difference to his own personal wants. Willing to bet the guy who had his car stolen would still like some manner of compensation, regardless of how many bloodied best friends were presented to them. Doesn't make it right, or fair, but it does make it an easy to follow, readily understood human impulse.

This is all predicated on the idea that John Cena would never get another shot at the WWE title again.
That just hit me.
