So recently watched Summerslam 1990 , one of my favorite Summerslam PPVs no less, and in the epic Hart Foundation v Demolition 2/3 falls match, L.O.D come down to level the score and beat down on Demolition, leaving the Harts to win.
However, previously in the show, they interview Demolition and Sean Mooney (I think) brings up L.O.D, saying how they want to challenge Demolition
My question is, and it's probably been asked a million times but apologies I'm from UK and only got PPvs at that point, how did L.O.D debut in WWF/E? Did they state they were just coming after Demolition? Did WWF/E make a big deal of them off the bat? Were they just fed jobbers?
Always been interested to know this!

They showed up on one of the squash-match shows and went over some jobber team in their debut. Don't believe there were any vignettes to hype them coming in, they just showed up one week. They were treated like a pretty big deal (at least given WWF didn't acknowledge other promotions at the time), though Ventura (I think - could have been Heenan) kept remarking they were just Demolition rip-offs.

That is also the way that I remembered it. I just tuned in and there was LOD beating up some jobbers. In those days if you were familiar with the wrestlers, they didn't do vignettes too much. Vignettes were mainly useful to make a big deal out of someone you might not recognize, or get a familiar wrestler over with a new gimmick (i.e. Mankind, Waylon Mercy, Razor Ramon). In LOD's case, they were just the Road Warriors we all recognized.

Here's an off topic question, did LOD ever put anybody over or lose to many other teams? The New Age Outlaws got the rub every time they'd face off, but I can't recall LOD losing all that much.
At least in WWF.

I know the NAOs went on to huge things but when they were beating LOD they were still basically Rockabilly and Jesse Jaames/Jammes. It would be the equivalent of Zack Ryder and Sin Cara beating the Usos

LOD was a team that needed to be protected in order to keep from losing credibility. They were no different than the Undertaker or Ultimate Warrior. The entire recipe of their success was wrapped up in their image.
