Learned something today that I didn't know before - Fenix and Pentagon Jr. are brothers. Weird right? I think Argenis is the brother of Mistico/Sin cara He is. Lucha libre has a higher rate of most members of a family becoming luchadors than any other type of pro wrestling.

Pic from after the final taping of Season 1 - possible SPOILER as it'll contain wrestlers who haven't debuted yet. {Spoiler}

The trios title match was so great. Ivelisse is a f***ing trooper for doing both matches on a bad wheel.
But geez. That Angelico spot. I've been showing a gif of that to anyone who will listen because that was truly a WTF moment like no other on TV.
LU is seriously where its at.

Not yet but the producers are planning to shop around the show to bigger networks if El Rey is stupid enough to pass on renewing the show. I hope so. Because I'm enjoying LU more from week to week. I don't want to live without it anymore. :/

What a great episode. 1 <3 LU. Has it been renewed for a second season? Not yet but the producers are planning to shop around the show to bigger networks if El Rey is stupid enough to pass on renewing the show. As mentioned, the season 1 finale sets the stage for season 2. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}The tease of Rey Mysterio debuting. The debut of Bengala, a highly touted AAA luchador. Vampiro revealed as Pentagon Jr's master. El Texano turns face and feuds with a heel Blue Demon who is allied with Chavo. Johnny Mundo and Melina reuniting. The resurrection of Mil Muertes by Catrina who defeats Prince Puma for the LU title. Muerte's Disciples of Death beating SOH, Angelico, and Ivelisse for the trios title. The mysterious medallions that been won by various wrestlers the upcoming weeks being part of a number 1 contenders title which is ultimately won by Fenix.{Spoiler} [/quote] El Rey features LU a lot on their sites and promos for the network, plus they like to air marathons of past episodes as well. It is their highest rated original show I think (I know that's not really a lot but considering the size of the station that's good) I'm hopeful they well renew it. The problem if they go to another network I fear is that they will try to make it more like American Wrestling and WWE style. Kinda like how DA made Angle and Taryn champions.

The problem if they go to another network I fear is that they will try to make it more like American Wrestling and WWE style. Kinda like how DA made Angle and Taryn champions. The thing is that Matador was the top rated show on El Rey before LU. Hell, their ratings were neck to neck with the ratings LU get if not higher some weeks. But El Rey still cancelled it. So being a flagship show means nothing especially to a network without the cash coffers like a bigger, established network. It doesn't install a lot of confidence that El Rey hasn't made a commitment yet even though they love the show. Mark Burnett and crew know what the show is and will sell to networks as such. Plus Lucha Underground is basically Americanized lucha with similar storylines. Authentic lucha is a different beast than LU. More crowd interaction, choreography of moves, and different match structure.

Now that I have more free time, I caught up with LU and what a great show it is.
I've seen (and not looked at the spoilers) that season 1 of LU is going to finish soon, anyone have an estimate of when it will end?
Also, I have to imagine that a renewal with El Rey will depend on how much they're paying, what the ratings are and what kind of ad money they can get. If, for any reason, El Rey walks, I have to wonder what network would want to take it (Spike would be at the top of the list, but I seem to remember some rumbling about trying to get a deal with ROH).

Since you could easily make LU a weekly year-round show, it fits the network perfectly, and it has solid ratings El Rey would be stupid not to buck-up to keep it. LU can provide some solid foundation for the network to grow on.

Plus things would either be on poles or forklifts Maybe someone will try to kill someone with a forklift then. It fit right in since I witnessed Konnan and Alberto kill men in LU with a steel cane and scarf respectively.

Does anyone know if they're planning to release seasons on DVD seen as this is clearly a TV product rather than a wrestling show? Obviously I'd expect them to keep their specials to stand alone DVDs and I'd snap up a Season 1 box set and the "PPV" if that's the way it had to be.
Any word on this sort of thing yet or if they're going to find their way onto a major on demand provider like Netflix?
