Did I miss the big Tejano face turn or was that it tonight?
I just saw the Tejano vs. Daivari feud as heel vs. heel.

I don't like Vampiro turning heel.

Konnan enlisted Texano to aid Puma in his match against Chavo since the deck was stacked in Chavo's favor and had him lay out The Crew, sending a reminder that the hit on Chavo from Mexico is still on and not even Dario's money would be able to protect him.

I wish Daivari would have kept the gold tights. I love the All Gold Everything gimmick.

Really wasn't a fan of tonight's show outside of Mil and Catrina making it known the champ is as good as dead. Chavo just ruins everything and Prince Puma is still the worst booked champ since...um...damn I really cannot think of a worse booked champion. Ya, wasn't a great show. I like Drago and Hernandez but was meh on the Dusty finish. We get a plain ol' squash-match. Then we have the cluster no-dq match. Unlike some early defenses I don't think Puma was booked weakly here, the crew turned it into a handicap match and once it wasn't anymore Puma won. But it was still a predictable "heels rig the no-dq" match. That you knew Chavo wouldn't get the title and whomever Konnan was talking to would get the save took fun out of the match for me.

I get the feeling Drago and Hernandez will blow off their feud at Ultimo Lucha. Maybe a loser leaves town scenario to get Hernandez out of the picture.
As far as Puma being booked weakly, he's had successful defenses against:
-Fenix -Cage -Drago -King Cuerno -Hernandez -Johnny Mundo -and now Chavo
He's pretty much gone through all the top heels, except for Pentagon, and for Mil Muertes, who he's facing at Ultimo Lucha.

You have to look at the wins though. Against Cage, he won via DQ once due to Cage going into berserker rage even though he had Puma dead to rights and ultimately beat Cage because Konnan and later Hernandez interfered to save his reign. He looked like Rey Mysterio when he was being squashed by Giant Khali and Mark Henry when he was heavyweight champ. Hernandez interfered when Puma went against Drago and that victory was tainted. The win against Mundo was tainted due to Alberto interfering towards the end. So far Puma can win when it's one on one. But the moment he's about to lost the title, someone interfere to save him. Not something to do when he is a babyface.

Not something to do when he is a babyface. True, but I think the last few matches he's been looking stronger. It's a tough part of having a babyface champ, because you either have to make them look like an underdog who has to scrap, or you make them dominate and they get stale real quick. Honestly, Puma as champ has grown on me, but eventually he's going to have to drop the strap to build him up again. I think Muertes may take the belt, either before or at Ultimo Lucha to close out the season. If before, it's probably only for Puma to get it back at UL, but I think it's more likely that Muertes will walk away as the undead champ. Then he'll go on a tear in season 2.

The problem is for how inventing Lucha Underground can be with matches, they miss the mark on booking a face champion. Puma can be a never say die face who can defy the odds and beat the best. Hard to get behind Puma if he needs backup and interference to win. He proved he can win without it.

That screen shot makes it look like Pentagon Jr is a mini in comparison to Vampiro.

Jack Evans has upped his game tremendously over the years. Don't forget, US/Canadian audiences haven't seen a ton of him since the mid-00s.
Ultima Lucha card is shaping up awesomely.
