Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter TNA recently made a play for CM Punk.
This was done similar to how they reached out to Alberto Del Rio, through an intermediary who is friends with Punk. The idea pitched was said to be a huge deal for Punk to be the top star of the company with pay similar to what Hulk Hogan was making. The idea is that Punk could be TNA's flagship star and if he signs now, he could help get a strong TV deal.
Punk reportedly expressed no interest in working in pro wrestling again.

If ever a conversation needed to be recorded it's this one.

TNA, I could have told you his answer years ago. The fact you actually tried would be laughable if not so pathetic.

I don't know why I find that so funny, but I do. Part of me wants to think they knew he would say no, or they wouldn't have offered him that much money. But then again, this is TNA, so I can totally believe they were willing to pay him Hogan's salary.

So they couldn't resign Hogan himself, Sting, The production crew, AJ Styles but they all of sudden have money to offer CM Punk? What was really the offer a McDonald's coffee and a bag of skittles.

Just because they are having major cuts in the budget doesn't mean that they don't have a ton of money accessible to them. If Janice Carter thought CM Punk would move the needle of TNA I'm sure she would sign the check. That being said, I don't believe Punk in TNA would do them any good at the moment. Punk's heart wasn't into wrestling in WWE I doubt he would do any better in a TNA ring. His work had become lazy and he looked sluggish at times. If Punk came in guns blazing with a fire lit under him, I can see him helping TNA turn around. Could be like Hogan joining WCW in 94. Give him the ball and let him run with it. But like it's been said, NEVER happen.

I can't say I blame TNA for making a play anyway. If there was ever one guy TNA could sign that could make a difference, it's Punk.
At least until they make him just another dude like everyone else they ever had.

If ever a conversation needed to be recorded it's this one. "How about-" "No." "But what if-" "No." "Even if-" "Please stop talking to me." etc for 15 minutes.

Didn't the wwe lowered the price of the cm punk merch to basically a buck each? It was around the time his lawyers send a letter to the E saying that Punk was owed some royalty checks...if he was suing the wwe I could see him going with tna for the money...but this isn't 2006-2010 anymore tna doesn't have that kind of money now, maybe when their relationship with Spike was better they could've afford him... Still how can Dixie expect Punk to appear on tna specially the way it is now? She's f***ing stupid, like almost brain damaged. The crew almost walked out because they weren't getting paid, how is she gonna afford Punk?
Maybe if TNA was in a better shape financially, offered Punk a higher deal he had in the wwe, a lighter schedule, hell give him creative control, f***ing hire his cronies, put a clause on his contract that he does whatever he wants...but nowadays if Dixie thinks that CM Punk is walking into a sinking ship, her father should just disown her.

This company is in such a mess right now, it would be stupid for him to jump into this.
But at the same time? They would be stupid not to ask.

I like how they've been trying to sign the two guys least likely out of everyone to actually want to work for them in Punk and ADR.

Only way punk would come out of retirement is if he gets offered the real Hogan deal, the one that WCW gave him, one million per month, creative control....
