I have nothing to add, but this is hilarious and I completely agree now that you mention it. in Bundy's shoot he said that Vince told him to shave the eyebrows in 1985 because he wanted people to focus on his eyes. for years I always wondered why Bundy looked so different when he came back. It wasn't until I watched his shoot that I realized it was the eyebrows.

Post any wwe superstar in past/recent times that you thought was very odd that they were picked up by WWE. One superstar who was so out of place for the times to me was Buddy Landell. Boy was 1996 such a weird time for the WWE, but I remember it fondly because I was 8 years old and was the hugest wrestling fan, a pretty big nerd in school about wrestling before it became cool with the NWO and attitude era. And this is my first post back on here in at least 6 years! Love my crappers! We don't really go by that anymore It's still the crap to me damnit Tatanka and the Road Warrior in the 2000s. Danny Doring and CW Anderson. Blue Meanie everytime he showed up

It still blows my mind that Sabu had a PPV match with John Cena. And a World title match against Rey Mysterio as well.

Dean Douglas. If they let him be Shane it would've been awesome. WWF was so out of touch in 1995.

Hakushi/Jinsei Shinzaki. Not only did an authentic Japanese wrestler seem out of place in the WWF in the mid-90s, but it was especially unusual for the WWF to give him something of a push. Shinzaki was a great wrestler, but McMahon is certainly not known for promoting Japanese wrestlers with any kind of dignity. Yokozuna doesn't count since he was only Japanese by gimmick. He was part of the time when the instant a heel starting getting over, they turned him face. Hakushi was a wicked wrestler and should have stayed heel, the second fans noticed he did shit no one ever saw in American wrestling, he went face.

Bundy in 1995 didn't feel right then and still doesn't feel right now. As a kid, I knew Bundy from the tapes during his first run. When he returned, he looked older and made this weird scowl on his face so often that part of me thought it was different guy. This sounds crazy, but what messed Bundy '95 up for me was his eyebrows. Bundy looked weird and menacing when he was a hairless blob in a black singlet. When he grew in his eyebrows he just looked more like a school bus driver or the guy who wins the pie eating contest every year at the county fair. Absolutely. He also looked a lot more hunched over. Didn't look like the same Bundy at all. Good observation.

You make a good point about the way the WWF was booking its talent at the time. I HATED Shawn Michaels because he played such a convincing heel in the 90s. It was about the time that the WWF turned Hakushi from a heel into a face that they did the same thing to HBK - and I didn't buy the turn, since Michaels didn't do anything to convince me that he was any more likable when he was booked as a face relative to how he was booked as a heel. He was always a first-class wrestler; it's not like his wrestling suddenly improved around the time he was turned face. However, I think the WWF kept Mr. Bob Backlund heel despite how over he was as a psychotic heel who proved that no one could escape from his patented Cross Face Chicken Wing when it was applied on the mat.

The first version of Kaientai aside from Funaki, I don't remember them lasting that long and doing nothing other than attacking Taka and chopping off Val Venis' dick.

One that always stood out to me as out of place was Big Bully Busick. He never seemed to feel right in the WWF. Dunno if it was just because the gimmick seemed terribly dated (purposely), or if seeing the gimmick in Global first made it stick out oddly.
And frankly, I'll be honest - some 19 or so years later, it STILL doesn't look right to me to see Jerry Lawler on WWE television.

New Jack was hired to feud with Cena but he had a test match with Val Venis where they realized he can't actually wrestle for shit.

Which reminds me, Vic Grimes had a brief stint in the WWF, another ones that you wouldn't have thought would have ever been on their radar let alone on their payroll. I think his stint in ECW was even off the McMahon's back.

A lot of those mentioned weren't really "out of place" so much as they were bad ideas.
One I'd have to mention is The Patriot. He was inserted into the main event out of absolutely nowhere. He would have been lame during the New Generation, let alone at a time when The Hart Foundation and DX were doing raunchy things that had never been seen before.
