I'm just gonna go ahead and nominate Dave Taylor. Yes, consummate journeyman wrestler, but having a Butlins brawler turn up on 2006 Smackdown stood out like all-hell.

The 1996 Royal Rumble with guys like Doug Gilbert, Dory Funk, The Headhunters Something I've been meaning to ask forever - did they acknowledge Dory's 1980s "Hoss Funk" run during the show?

Leilani Kai's return for Mania X is weird to me. It's cool that they brought back someone from the first Mania (and maybe that's why they did it) but she seemed out of place.

Hearing Jim Ross telling us "Terry Funk's last WrestleMania appearance was at WrestleMania 2" really hit hard the fact I was getting old. (Never mentioned Dory Funk's run as "Hoss", even while he was a trainer for the company in the late-90s.)
But I'll second "The Rebel" Dick Slater being particularly odd, even in 1987. Dick Slater had the look that screamed "Southern pro 'rassler" and aside from losing a match on SNME, I don't remember much about him except wearing his T-shirt in the merchandise catalog. He stuck out like a sore thumb in that group of muscle men and big names.
I thought Bundy was weird in 1995 because he grew chest hair.

The weird thing about Slater is that they were trying to push a southern wrestler with rebel flag-motif ring gear as a GOOD GUY up north.

Dick Murdoch at the 1995 Royal Rumble Made creepier knowing the man would die within a year. Then again, Murdoch was never the healthiest looking guy out there. Was so pale he looked like a professional blood donor that never said "when".

New Jack was hired to feud with Cena but he had a test match with Val Venis where they realized he can't actually wrestle for shit. Haha, I'd never heard that, when was this? Poor Jack. Which reminds me, Vic Grimes had a brief stint in the WWF, another ones that you wouldn't have thought would have ever been on their radar let alone on their payroll. I think his stint in ECW was even off the McMahon's back. I think New Jack was supposed to be the one who "stabbed" John Cena at a night club.

Robbie Brookside, he worked dark matches, appeared on Raw and now works in developmental when he really doesn't fit the WWE superstar mould.

Mr. Wrestling II and Buzz Sawyer are two that don't quite gel to me.
On the subject of Murdoch, I'd dare say his first run there in the mid-80s as tag champ as well. I loved the character, great worker, gimmick and tag partner, and I loved that he was there, but man did he ever stand out like a sore thumb.
