Sigh. The UK release has the U.S. date format on the medal. It's a British film about a British Secret Service Whose members are quintessentially British. Yet they use a date format that only one country in the World uses on the medal and it's not the UK.

Just got finished watching. Great fun. Going to show it to friends the first chance.
One random little bit made me smile... anyone else catch the "Trading Places" reference later in the movie?

We need more of these stylish, comedic espionage movies as they're always some of my favourites. I'll always dig a Bond movie, but this one blows all those out of the water for me; I loved how over-the-top it was and how unafraid it was to be whacky - just look at Samuel L. Jackson in this movie. Hilarious stuff.
I'm just upset I never had a chance to see it in cinemas.

Just watched this.
I wanted to see it since I first saw the trailer, but never got around to it while it was in the theaters.
I had a total blast watching it. Tone wise, it's right in line with Kick-Ass where it deconstructs the concept, but then becomes the very concept it was earlier deconstructing.
Amusingly, the actor of the main character is not mentioned on the front cover of the Blu-Ray at all, instead having Colin Firth (the mentor) Samuel L. Jackson (the villain) and Michael Caine (the head of the organization) as the before the title names.
It also has the greatest use of "Pomp And Circumstances" I've ever seen in a movie

The similarities between this and Guardians of the Galaxy are funny.
They both were little known properties, that weren't expected to be huge. Guardians had it being a Marvel movie, but even then some thought it would bomb. Kingsman got pushed back, and went against Fifty Shades. They instead, exceeded expectations, became big successes, had fantastic word of mouth, and had excellent staying power. Hell, Guardians may become the Star Wars for this generation, and Kingsman may become the Bond for this generation.
Not bad for a couple of movies based on not widely known properties that people weren't expecting big things from.

Didn't catch it. What was it? After the jet lands at Valentine's, Eggsy suits up and Merlin says to him: "Looking good, Eggsy", to which Eggsy responds "Feeling good, Merlin." That was a bit of dialogue at the beginning of "Trading Places" between Aykroyd and his so-called friends, and again at the very end between Aykroyd and Murphy when they were lounging in the tropics.

Rise from your grave!
Kingsman: The Secret Service is a darn fine movie. it manages to be fun, and silly without being stupid or insulting your intelligence. Most importantly it has a sense a style from beginning to end that is its very own. It embraces the spy genre, respecting it, lampooning it, and playing with the tropes.
The music is fantastic, with only the awful Iggy Azalea track at the very end of the credits being a stinker. I can give it a pass due to location and the fact they had a great car scene set to a Dizzee Rascal track.
We also got a bad guy who had some depth and layers. He felt very much like Magneto, which has a lot to do with Matthew Vaughan directing.
My only real complaint about the movie was all the training we missed, but we got to see the end result and are smart enough to piece to together. I just wanted to see it visually.
High marks for this. Maybe the most I have ever enjoyed a Mark Millar property. By all means watch it, maybe not with kids around, you might have to explain a few things about Swedish Princesses.

I honestly love how much this thread keeps being brought back as more people discover the movie and how amazing it is.

I honestly love how much this thread keeps being brought back as more people discover the movie and how amazing it is. I got it about a week after it came out (coupon combo buster, it was like 10 bucks on Blu), just finally got the chance to watch it, I had been itching for weeks.

Watched it a few weeks ago. It's a fantastic movie.
Matthew Vaughn continues to be one of my favourite directors. I think this might be his best movie to date.

This is relevant to me now as I just finished Amy Purdy's book, and she was the first choice to play the woman with the leg blades.

I honestly love how much this thread keeps being brought back as more people discover the movie and how amazing it is. Well then, it's time for another call-back! I just got around to watching this movie with my wife and 16 year old (yes, my wife reached over to cover his eyes during that scene). Great, great movie. My son's first comment after it was over? "I really want there to be a sequel!" I told him that he was in luck. My wife was sad that Colin Firth's character did not finish the film (well, and she looked at me funny about the princess's final scene). She also liked the idea of a sequel.
