The last season of the original Star Trek wasn't all that great. The first two are amazing. The third season took a big nosedive. The third season was pretty bad overall, though it did have a few really good episodes like The Enterprise Incident and The Tholian Web. But yeah, a lot of changes behind the scenes along with NBC dicking them over consistently resulted in a subpar season that was ended early. Turnabout Intruder was a really piss-poor series finale because it was supposed to be a midseason filler episode at best. Turns out that shows don't get good ratings when you air them during the graveyard slot (Friday @ 10 PM). Who woulda thought? Combine that with Gene Roddenberry being executive producer in name only after the graveyard slot move, along with Gene Coon and DC Fontana both leaving the show entirely, and it's a recipe for disaster.

The Buu Saga in DBZ was not needed at all. The Cell arc ended the series perfectly, it didn't need to continue.

Scrubs Season 9 gave us Dave Franco and Michael Mosley. I can't hate it for that reason. And even then, only Denise (introduced in Season 8), Turk and Cox were full time characters. The rest were on recurring/guest star status. I just didn't think it made much sense for the Chief of Staff (Cox) and Chief of Surgery (Turk) to also teach at a medical school. Then again I'm not a doctor so maybe that's more common than I thought. Also I couldn't stand Denise, though I didn't like any of the Season 8 Interns. They were a weak spot in an otherwise pretty solid final season. Sacred Heart always was a teaching hospital, though. It also was never hidden that the facility that they were at for the first 8 seasons was an old building (it was actually filmed in a shut down hospital, the same one that Children's Hospital now films at). In terms of a spin-off, it makes perfect sense that the board expanded their charter when they built the new facility. Cox and Turk were expected to teach all along as part of their jobs in Season 8, so they would simply do it more in the new setting. In all honesty, in the context of a spinoff the medical school was a great setting. It did allow them to bring in guest stars from the original for set arcs to lend star power when needed as adjunct teaching assignments at such schools would only run a few weeks to a few months at a time. Since Sacred Heart still was a functional, albeit smaller and more modern, hospital at the same time, it made sense for certain background characters to still be around (Todd, Beardface, Doug, Sonny, Snoop Dogg Attending, etc).

The Buu Saga in DBZ was not needed at all. The Cell arc ended the series perfectly, it didn't need to continue. The Buu Saga gaves us Majin Vegeta though. But in retrospect, the series could've/should've ended with Vegeta still sacrificing himself to save earth.

Alias season 5 was god-awful. It made no sense and ruined almost all of the characters for me. I love the show but I can't watch that season again hence why I only own season 1-4 on DVD.

The final season of the A team was straight up f***ing dreadful as it felt like the show went out of its way to commit every cardinal sin of dying TV shows when they attempt to reinvent themselves after declining ratings. Annoying and totally unnecessary new character check, crap new theme song check, back story being changed check and finally new premise that is a total 180 to what made the show great triple bloody check.
That it was stupid on the final episode it was stupid that Hannibal pretty much said f*** it we quit even though it was made quite clear early on in that season in the session if they failed their missions or went AWOL they would all be facing a firing squad.

Married...With Children
It seemed like the studio audience didn't even want to laugh.
The only decent episode is the Thanksgiving one, mainly because of the James Brown/Al interaction.

Newsradio is a borderline case. It had a MASSIVE black cloud hanging over it after the murder of Phil Hartman to start with. It wasn't anywhere close to "horrible" (the Johnny Johnson episodes are some of the best they ever did) but it just wasn't up to snuff with the previous seasons.
The last season of Fringe was just a hot mess.

There are some that I found to be awful to the point that I could only get a few episodes in and just cut the show off from there: Gilmore Girls This. The show creator quit outright when the show had already been slowly declining and that last season just absolutely fell off a cliff. The final episode was so rushed. 'f*** it just get them together and then f*** off.' I consider the second to last episode to be the true finale. The actual finale was just all over the place and suffers for the same reasons I despise the final High School Musical movie(I hate all three, but the third is nuclear levels for me): They basically said the Gilmore Girls were the most important people in the town. Bullshit. Yeah, the show is called Gilmore Girls, but seriously? They made THAT much of an impact that the whole friggin' town had to throw a party for them? And Emily and Richard attend? Nope, sorry. To be honest, I would've liked if the final season had Rory pregnant instead of Lane, and ended with Rory's daughter being born. The Gilmore Girls will continue for another generation... I dunno, that might just be me.

Honestly I would've been happier had they just finally sorted out the Luke/Lorelai romance and just ended it before that final season, because most of it sucked anyway. You're right though that party was bullshit.

I'm bumping this up, because I can't believe I forgot one.
The final season of Burn Notice was terrible. Burn Notice was the ultimate summer show. It was fun, full of likeable characters, over the top at times in a good way, didn't take itself too seriously, and had a great sense of humor. The final season on the other hand, got rid of the fun (Sam and Jesse were the only characters that brought fun), got rid of the sense of humor, made Michael just deplorable, Michael no longer was someone who protected the little guy, and it took itself way too seriously.

No x-files mention? I'm suprised and disgusted by all of you! X-Files was a dreadful mess for the last couple of seasons, and not much better for the two before that. Once Mulder was no longer a series regular it was all over.

Nip/Tuck but it had started to go down hill from season 3. Then they went to LA and it was awful.

The last season of Impact on SpikeTV was dogshit bad. When you find yourself thinking "I miss Willow" you know you've hit rock bottom.

One that I did not mention because it was three not horrible but much worse seasons is the West Wing. The first four season of that show are as good as tv gets. Then as soon as Sorkin left it all went downhill fast. Bartlett went from a good but flawed president to an absurdly amazing president who turned everything into gold. It just became an absurd show and it lost the comedy that made the show work so well.
Just an aside it really strikes me as odd that Sports Night failed because it was a comedy that forgot to be funny while the West Wing was amazing because it was a drama with so many comedic elements.

I think the series bottomed out in 5, but started recovering with 6 and 7, largely because it started focusing on the upcoming campaign rather than the White House.

I don't know if it was mentioned, but Night Court's last season was dreadful with John Larroquette and Markie Post looking to do other things beside the show.
For game shows, I couldn't think of a limper final 13 weeks than Family Feud with Richard Dawson because of the 400 point format and it was just dull as dishwater. I guess for final seasons of game shows as well, you can throw in Deal or No Deal on NBC.
