One of my favorites of the Hogan feuds. Quake to me is underrated these days. Also love the Tugboat begging for support scam so they can add people to a mailing list. Dunn done a great job with this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUD6hjAiOLk

I think that's why Hogan stayed on top for so long. If John Cena is made to look weak, he has to come back in a week or two fresh as a daisy. Earthquake murders Hulk Hogan and he's out for awhile, until they do the big comeback match.

It felt like a big feud at the time. I was really drawn in to the feud with that Brother Love segment where Earthquake did the Eartquake splash on Hogan and Earthquake mocked Hogan's poses to boos.

And don't forget tugboats tearful messages to the hulkamaniacs. Begging them to send in those get well cards!

Hogan had a few advantages over Cena in those days:
1. He was Hogan. 2. He wasn't overexposed like Cena is.
Quake was a good feud for Hogan. I always thought Quake was one of the most underrated big men. The dude was as strong as anyone I know of - he caught Bossman coming off the top rope at Series '90. He could also throw an actual dropkick... not a Jerry Blackwell dropkick where he hops 2 inches of the mat and kicks his legs in the air, but an actual dropkick like a man half his size might do.

Earthquake killing jobbers after putting the Hulkster out was always fun.

Everyone says Warrior should have got this feud I don't see it working as well as it did with Hogan As much as anything else, it would have been something new and fresh. Rehashing Warrior vs Rick Rude just didn't work and Quake was on fire at the time. The only other thing I could have seen them doing was trying like crazy to persuade Sid Vicious or Sting to jump ship to be Warrior's challenger.

I remember being a kid and thinking Hogan might have really been injured so bad he would retire. When he gave the "Hell no, I'm not retiring" promo I marked out hard.

So none of you ever saw King King Bundy destroy Hogan? What was different about Quake?

As far as Hogan matches go, the Summerslam match between them was pretty good.

The rapper Mac Lethal used one of the postcards from Hulk Hogan as the inside art to one of his album with the brag that at age 7 he was already building his empire and getting mail from Hulk Hogan.

So none of you ever saw King King Bundy destroy Hogan? What was different about Quake? Five years are an eternity in wrestling. The audience that was following it when Earthquake was around had a LOT of viewers that weren't around for the first couple of Wrestlemanias. To further matters, the Bundy angle was very, very rushed and almost felt last minute to quickly build a main event. After the angle where Bundy attacked Hogan, Hogan was back in the ring on TV two days later. As Hogan had moved on to working with Funk, Savage and Studd after a program with Bundy in January 1985 (during which Hogan handily defeated Bundy several times), KK being brought back out of nowhere for another run at the title only a couple months later had a lot of people believing they just couldn't think of a better idea to headline WM.

Amazing feud. Ultra heated. Hogan sold the initial attack beautifully. Should have ended conclusively with Hogan pinning Quake at Summerslam
For the record, I wrote a letter to Hogan expressing my support, and condemning Earthquake's actions, and I got a reply from WWF. A postcard of Hogan with a message of appreciation for taking the time to write.
I was thrilled.

I am one who feels that Earthquake should have been fed to Warrior. He's taken out Hogan and is the #1 heel in the company. You need to feud him with the babyface champion. Just seems like Hogan again couldn't let someone else have any of the spotlight. He turned Savage winning the belt into a joint celebration and then turned Warrior winning the belt into a 'let's feel bad for Hogan' moment at Mania VI.
Everyone says Warrior failed as champion, but that was in part because Hogan got the biggest heel to feud with.

I wrote too. I didn't get a postcard, just two friendship bracelets: one with Hulk Hogan in the red and yellow, the other of Ultimate Warrior in the pink and lime green colors.
No, I never got a catalog either, I was already a WWF Magazine subscriber.
