For you kids that just started watching WWE do you ever watch WWF before 2000?
Do you see how bad WWE is compared to the old WWF days?

Nice reply. But for the threads sake I'll give you 2000-01. 1997-99 may have had better storylines but the wrestling was much poorer. Early to mid 90's was rubbish.

Do you see how bad WWE is compared to the old WWF days? Ah yes, I long for the halcyon days of everyone being heels, unprotected chair shots, Val Venis getting his dick cut off, swerves for no reason and every title getting passed around like the Dudley Boyz' momma. WWE now SUCKS!

It's kinda like comparing apples and oranges in some aspects. For instance, TV matches run much longer now than they did when I started watching but I'd argue that storylines are much less exciting and the roster isn't being used to it's full potential like we used to see. There's way too many dudes standing around doing nothing now than there were 15-16 years ago.

I will say this. Just looking at them by themselves, some of the PPV's in 99' were significantly worse than pretty much any show this year.

WWE since the debut of the Shield has been the best that it's ever been. Not just because of the 3 Shield guys, but also a company-wide effort to get rid of immature and offensive-for-the-sake-of-being-offensive stories.
I also believe the locker room is a much more relaxed, professional environment which helps breed a more professional workforce. No one is being severely hazed anymore, the carny ways are dying off. And everyone on the roster, even the enhancement talent, even the Miz, are all wrestling at a higher skill level than all but the very top guys of the 90s.

Had you guys ever watched AJPW in the 90's?
The wrestling was far superior that anything that the WWE has ever produced, the Kobashi vs Misawa showdown at the Tokyo Dome is far superior that any match in Wrestlemania

I like modern WWE since about 2010 or so more than I've ever liked any period of the company except for maybe the Hogan years.
The nineties might have had amazing mainstream appeal, but for the stuff I like in wrestling it was pretty rough. The attitude era is flat out embarrassing to watch with other people in the room.
