Kid: Are we watching wrestling?
Dad: Yes son but we ain't watching anything current. We are going to watch wrestling from my era.
Kid: I want to watch Cena.
Dad: We watch Cena every Monday. Today we are watching guys like Jake Roberts, Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Doink The Clown
Kid: No I want to watch CENA!
Dad: Listen you have to learn that Cena isn't everything. Anyway he can't hold a candle to guys like Tatanka, Honky Tonk Man, Bret Hart, Owen Hart and others.
Kid: No I hate you. I want to watch Cena!!!!
Dad: Fine then no more Cena t-shirts.
Kid: *cries*
Dad:.....*quietly* f**king cena......

This thread is like Billy Madison when he pulls up in front of the high school in his Trans Am blasting Billy Squire.
And just like the movie, I think the high school kids are kind of dicks for laughing at him, but he totally deserves it. I also feel kinda bad for Billy. But, again, he totally deserves it for that severe misread of the room.

Do you see how bad WWE is compared to the old WWF days? Ah yes, I long for the halcyon days of everyone being heels, unprotected chair shots, Val Venis getting his dick cut off, swerves for no reason and every title getting passed around like the Dudley Boyz' momma. WWE now SUCKS! I know this post was made in jest but I'd 100% take all of that crap over seeing the same boring show every week.

It may not be the best thread ever, but jeez some of these posts(even after he admitted he wasnt in the best state of mind) are coming off extremely pretentious and douchey.

Storylines were better but wrestling was worse. I'd rather have shitty storylines but good wrestling.

Isn't making threads while drunk against the board rules?
Edit: Nevermind. It's making threads/posts about how drunk you are that's against the rules. My bad.

The only old WWE shows I can still go back to and enjoy are New Generation era shows. Everything else bores or angers me.

I'm 27 and have watched wrestling for my entire life and IMO the in ring wrestling product in 2013/2014 is the best crop of wrestlers ever assembled. You don't like the storylines? Fine. Don't like Cena? Fine. Can't deny the wrestling is better.

I have no idea if any of the New Kids On The Block like to go back and watch old wrestling clips, I've never thought to ask any of them.

Do you old folks watch NXT? For you old fogeys that started watching before 2000, Do you see how bad the old days are compared to it? Yes, and good lord yes, respectively - but only in-ring. Everyone on NXT is still dull as dish water on the mic compared to almost everyone from the '80s. I'd still rather watch a Bull Dempsey marathon than 90% of the Attitude era, though.

Don't like Cena? Fine. Can't deny the wrestling is better. I can't get over how everyone wrestles the same basic style, just changing the athleticism level or types of moves. I think the overall wrestling product was better in the 90s, more different styles and shapes and sizes and attires, more of that 3 ring circus mentality. There are a greater percentage now that are extremely physically talented, but the variety and individuality are lacking. Even the athletic/high-risk stuff, none of it can touch Mysterio/Psicosis matches.

I don't think it's really clear-cut one way or the other. The wrestling is a lot technically better now, but a lot of these fifteen minute TV matches are lifeless for the first 85%, the over-saturated programming makes most things meaningless, the promos are pure script, and the crowds are a fraction as hot. I realize that most people who long for the Attitude Era do not give the modern era a fair shake, but there are plenty of good reasons to prefer the old days.
EDIT: Gauche to use 'but' two sentences in a row. BUT still!

Storylines were better but wrestling was worse. I'd rather have shitty storylines but good wrestling. Depends what you mean by wrestling. Wrestlers in the WWE now maybe are more athletic and sound but they are not better at in-ring psychology than the WWF guys. I mean you watch the Usos do all the flips that you want but after a while, it gets boring seeing the same crap. Give me The NAO who were wrestling for 5 minutes but you cared by what was going on in the ring.

WWE since the debut of the Shield has been the best that it's ever been. Not just because of the 3 Shield guys, but also a company-wide effort to get rid of immature and offensive-for-the-sake-of-being-offensive stories. I also believe the locker room is a much more relaxed, professional environment which helps breed a more professional workforce. No one is being severely hazed anymore, the carny ways are dying off. And everyone on the roster, even the enhancement talent, even the Miz, are all wrestling at a higher skill level than all but the very top guys of the 90s. There was an influx of new talent in 2013 that included the Shield and that made the year pretty decent and they managed to screw them all up since. Now are we are. Also who cares if the lockerroom is more relaxed. Give me a competitive place where everyone hate each other but they bust their butts to give us the best show possible.

Everyones opinion will always be different, its unbelievably subjective.
Personally wrestling will never be the same as it was when I loved it growing up, the Hulkamania Era and the Attitude Era will never be topped. The end.
