I dont blame JR for being kinda gruff about these guys having no question/stumbling over their words. If you dont know what to say/ask on a LIVE all in show. DONT FREAKING CALL IN Then hire a good screener like a damn professional call in show usually has. Hey man, don't try and water down my LiveWire.

I think it's stupid for a show to be called 'Live Wire' and then to turn itself into a recap show while shunning the 'live' aspect of it. If you're gonna do that, then change the name!
Same with Shotgun Saturday Night. The point of the title was that the show took place from unconventional locales, hence the 'shotgun' aspect (i.e. people have shotgun weddings on the fly, as opposed to planning it out at a church). When the episodes took place at Denim & Diamonds, the NY subway or any other random place, THAT'S when the show's charm was evident (and the title made sense). Once they went to taped arena matches, the name of the show should have been changed (to something like, I don't know...WWF Superstars v.2).

Maybe this is the reason why Vince thinks it's funny to rib him all the time?

The only staged calls were the ones from Heyman and WWE talent. The fan calls weren't worked as they were basically always just comments/questions about some current event in WWE/WCW/ECW and nothing that ever led to an angle. The call-in aspect ended when the company decided to no longer do the show live on Saturday mornings. Two things I remember from Livewire is an episode where Todd Pettengill was legit late in getting to the studio, forcing Vince to fill in until he showed up, plus this exchange between JR and a caller: Fan: Will Scott Hall and Kevin Nash be at the Royal Rumble? JR: If they want to see a great show, they will be. Unless by WWF talent, you mean folks under WWF employ, then you are wrong. They had the same lady call in about 3 or 4 weeks in a row, always about different subjects, until the last one, which was part of the Nation of Domination forming. It still boggles my mind that a long-running angle in WWF was started on LiveWire. What did she have to do with the Nation forming? I wouldn't be surprised if some people called the show more than once, but I always remember the fan calls being just along the lines of "I think (wrestler) will win at (PPV)" and "What do you think about (something WCW/ECW said/did)?" It would especially be weird to do a worked call with someone who never ends up becoming an on-screen character.

Another moment I remember is Vince Russo (as Vic Venom) showing up in the studio, saying the show sucks, and outing Doc Hendrix as Michael P.S Hayes

I love how he ends his podcast (which I enjoy) with the ominous "and remember, our futures are never guaranteed." Sounds like he's predicting the end of the world or something.

Maybe this is the reason why Vince thinks it's funny to rib him all the time? Listening to his podcasts, I can absolutely see why Vince and others rib him because he comes off as a cranky old man who thinks he's always right. That said though a lot of the ribs are dumb because they only serve to piss the fans off as they only know of JR as the great announcer and not anything else and they often go beyond the boundaries of good taste when it comes to making fun of his bell's palsy.
