I went from 2001-2005, but wish I went any time from 1990-1994 to earlier (well up until the 1970s or so probably). Music/fashion seems to always be a big part of high school and with my grunge music listening habits I was pretty much treated like an alien in 2001-2005.
Alternatively, perhaps 2008 or later. Lots of advancements in technology so I could goof off on a smartphone or somethinng, which wasn't an option in my day.

Always the most recent for me.
I love when people romanticize past decades because really it probably sucked.

Also, even though they may have also sucked they may have sucked less than 2001-2005. That period was pretty brutal between boy bands still being huge, nu metal and Limp Bizkit.

The 80's, only if it's 80's movie school Particularly the one in Risky Business for me. Hell, I just want the world we live in to be more like the world of Risky Business. I mean where else can you host a party with prostitutes and booze, do fairly shitty on the SATS, and still get into Princeton?

I'm pretty content with mine-1998-2001, first class of the New Millenium baby!

I'm pretty content with mine-1998-2001, first class of the New Millenium baby! Plus, that is pretty much the heart of the Attitude Era! Oh well, at least wrestling was still "cool" for my freshman year and maybe a tiny bit my sophmore year. I remember WM 18 was a big deal that had some of the shit munchers at my school talking.

I'm happy with 2000-2004.
Cable/DSL speed internet without cyberbullying and social media to preserve and publicize our lowest moments. Best of both worlds for a teenager.

It definitely was a good time to be in high school in many ways. The internet was popular enough to make communicating with friends much easier as well as making new friends. However, the economy was beginning to suck so the years immediately following graduation were more difficult than they had to be. It would've been nice to have been able to enjoy cheaper gas in the 90's

Still, MySpace only sprung up at the end of high school and was pretty crap all in all. Things like YouTube, Facebook, etc. were non-existent. Plus, some people I think still used dial up. Ughhh! Although I think I was beyond dial up by the time high school came around IIRC. Plus, 9/11 happening on my third day of high school and all...

The 80's, only if it's 80's movie school Purely from movies and TV I've decided that small town 80s America is the best time to be kid. Not sure how American school systems and ages line up but it seems being younger at the start of the decade and an older teenager towards the end is an option in this thread.

I think the non-existence of those things at that point is what made the internet in that era of high school so great. The only real petty shit was, what, Xanga? And even then, it was such a niche thing you didn't really have gossip/bullying/clique/maliciousness that MySpace for high schools/students in general was the beginning of. The internet was the sexy picture/free music/dancing internet baby machine. Flash cartoons and eBay. Good times and great memories. If you age 14-17, that's all you should really have.

I'm happy with my years. I do admit later years would seem to be pretty cool with the advancements of technology as Kamalarambo pointed out. Also homework would be easier with googling/youtube and such.

Also, mainstream music was getting pretty bad. Still, I had a freaking CD burner and I had a microphone! I would record albums and sell them at school. It was super easy to make connections too. Thank to AIM, I had lots of female friends but things were not too advanced either. We still wrote letters at school and talked on the phone. Social media was still pretty private, so that was nice. But yea, dial-up f***ing sucked. Downloading music was a nightmare. Porn was very dangerous too. But hey, yahoo chat rooms still had real people!

Yeah, I did enjoy flash cartoons. I though MySpace was pretty stupid when it came out and never had one. Tried to avoid Facebook at first too, but caved in pretty early by joining in 2006. Still, things like YouTube would have been awesome to have at 14-17. I think it went big when I was 18 or so and well you know YouTube. I think anyone who first found that site in 2006 pretty much had the same reaction and had to immediately drop things and waste hours and hours on there just due to the share amount of content.

I'm happy I went and graduated when I did, 2007-2011. Plenty of people had cell phones, so it was easy to keep in touch with friends and plan things on a whim, plus not having to call a girl's house phone, worrying about her brother or dad answering the phone, but at the same time they weren't smart phones so everyone wasn't buried in them at all times like they are now. There wasn't bullshit social media garbage like there is today, either. I mean, that stuff started getting somewhat popular around the tail end of my tenure, but definitely not as widespread as it is now with everyone and their mother having a Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and so on. We had Myspace, so we had passive aggressive bulletins, angsty blog posts, hideous custom themes with autoplaying songs that you can't find the button to turn off, and of course MSN, but that shit is all gone now so we're good.
The Internet in general wasn't as mainstream as it is now either, so there weren't any embarrassing "let's use memes to advertise this and that, these hot cool references for the youngsters" moments. I can't imagine going to high school today. There's no semblance of privacy, so for example embarrassing pictures someone took of you are now uploaded to Instragram and going viral right this moment. In general school and the drama that comes with will come home with you. You can't get away from it. It all sounds like my own personal hell, and that's coming from someone who actually didn't mind high school one bit.

Porn was very dangerous too. But hey, yahoo chat rooms still had real people! Speaking of mainstream music sucking in that era, it's interesting how the generation after Y, let's say the people who weren't really cognoscente of popular music at the time, look to 2003 as "the last great year of mainstream music." While A LOT of great albums came out that year, what these listeners fail to realize is that all that year's landmark releases all came out in the same 2 or 3 months, one at the very beginning and one at the very end of the year, making living through 2003's dreadful music scene largely unbearable, especially after the surprising consistency of 2002. Great music is great music, and I'm not knocking people for being born after me like a bunch of jerks but it's just a weird observation that kind of brings up the question of if by-year is really the best way to categorize and evaluate music. But perhaps this is a discussion for another thread...

In 2003 or so I think it took hours to download things like Rapper's Delight. Also, forget about downloading full wrestling shows or movies. If I wanted to see Randy Savage and Mr. Perfect vs. Razor Ramon and Ric Flair I had to leave my computer running overnight. These were all through perfectly legal means mind you *shifty eyes*
