Right at this point in time, with the roster's in the state it's in. Say on Sunday, Cena screws up his leg doing his top rope leg drop and gets a Sid-like injury from it, or say after the show he decides he's too beaten up / too tired / too bored / too hotty / too underpaid / whatever and walks out a la Punk. Either situation, how could you see WWE addressing it if Cena suddenly went down right now and was for sure not going to be back any time soon?
I have no clue personally, at least onscreen. Offscreen Vince would probably kill somebody because they'd be hopeless.

Simple. They would be f***ed. 90% of their roster is ruined because they have relied on the status quo for far too long

if Cena got injured, they would do what they've done in the past: exaggerate the amount of time he'll be out, actually try to book something new and fresh while he's out, then bring him back "sooner" than expected (wink wink) to "save the company"

I think they might have a clone of Cena in a deep sleep. If they never have to use it, it can just be propped up like the Andre statue in Titan Tower!

Start asking Darren Young how he feels about the concept of whiteface.

Elevate someone quick as shit, then immediately knock them down the card once Cena is better.
If Cena left for good? Orton is now the top face.

Cena would just come back in a few weeks, despite how injured he was. Like every other time he's been injured. It'd take him dying in the ring for him to understand he probably shouldn't keep doing that.....

Injured: See Summerslam '13 to TLC '13 for the basic idea.
Walks out: *Phone Rings in Chicago* "Hi, um Phil it is Vince. How much to show up Monday and cut a 30 promo on how bad a human Cena is?" ... "Okay, how about to work TV only from now until Wrestlemania where you'll headline against Lesnar?" ... "Yeah, I'll have the title to Sexy Bitch overnighted see you Monday"

They'll handpick someone in NXT or the lower card and force-push them to the top of the card. If Cena left WWE on bad terms, they'll work overtime to force this wrestler to outshine, overshadow or negate Cena's accolades, trying to hammer home the narrative that "this guy is better than John Cena ever was". The wrestler will follow in Cena's footsteps in the sense that he will become a respected worker over time and/or be ruined in the eyes of the fans because they shoved him down everyone's throats.

They'd keep rolling like they always do. Does anyone really think they'd actually be doomed? WWE isn't going anywhere.
As for how they'd book, I think they'd pony up for Brock being around a bit more. And at WrestleMania they'll give the title to Daniel Bryan (or Dean or Reigns).

You know this is interesting because I could see them doing this with Baron Corbin. They know the formula from Ryback and don't have to worry about keeping a movie star happy at the expense of people who will actually be there this time. Granted I'd rather see them bring back Ryback and start over with that push to the top but I don't see it occurring.
