I'm talking mainly their original run and the early 90s-while Ric Flair would ALWAYS be the mainstay, who else might have worked on the group? Were there any others that were actually considered but didn't make the cut?
I wonder if they should have at least attempted to keep the group going in 89 after Arn and Tully left as well as JJ Dillon.
I think they probably could have added a tag team, but I'm not sure who. I can't really picture Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express joining, so I'm kind of at a loss at the moment.
Anyway, who do you think would have made a good Horseman or Horsemen?

I've always thought that Paul Orndorff would have made an excellent Horseman. One of my favorite fantasy bookings is Orndorff joining the Horsemen and turning the other Horsemen against Flair, leading to Flair and Sting taking on the Horsemen.
Also, Larry Zbyszko.

How about Eddie Gilbert? I think he could've fit the "TV champion" role of the group pretty well.

Yep. I always thought he would've been a great fit. While it's a little later than the time frame you suggested, I always thought it was a huge f*** up that Curt Hennig wasn't a permanent member of that group. He was perfect Horseman material.

Heel Brad Armstrong. Good look, excellent in the ring, had the pedigree, and came off as a pretty good heel the few times he was a heel in WCW.

Had he not jumped ship to the WWF right before Crockett bought out the UWF, Ted DiBiase.

Nick Bockwinkel would have been great even at his age.

I remember there was buzz that Curt Hennig might be signed away from AWA toward the end of his run there to help restart the Horsemen. Of course he went to WWE instead.
Austin could have been in the Horsemen in the 1990s.

In 1995 both the combination of Flair, Anderson, Austin and Vader and the combo of Flair, Anderson, Austin and Hennig were rumored.

Flair/Rude/Austin/Pillman
(Rude if we're assuming Arn was unavailable)

Steve Austin Rick Rude Jimmy Garvin Terry Taylor (IMO, if Paul Roma can be a Horseman, then Taylor is more than capable) Paul Orndorff The Boss (enforcer)

If so, he was briefly an associate of the Horsemen who teamed with them in WarGames, using the name War Machine as a play on being suited for the WarGames match.

Yes, I meant Ray Traylor. You're right, but I'd almost push him in the Arn role for a longer period.

He did 'coach' the Horsemen at the Great American Bash in 1996 and appeared with them in the Nitros leading into that PPV. So, I guess officially he was at one time with the Four Horsemen as their 'Coach.'

Terry Taylor would've been a good addition Good one. Terry Taylor was a good wrestler who had that obnoxious quality about him that would have made him an interesting replacement for Tully Blanchard.

Yeah it's a shame that most people will remember Terry because of the red rooster gimmick, he was very good at midsouth.
