MSG is way better than Barclays imo. Barclays takes forever to get inside, and MSG is very easy to get to via mass transit Barclays isn't easy to get to? There's literally 11 lines that stop at Atlantic Avenue, the majority of which are 24-7 and accessible throughout Manhattan. I do agree that Barclays takes longer to get into, but you cant tell me going through those godawful towers and cramped corridors in MSG is any better. Barclays is also much nicer and has better sightlines in almost every respect. Both are expensive, so call that part equal. MSG's biggest positives are the fact Penn Station is right there, and its history. As far as amenities go, seat layout, etc. its not a very good arena for anything really. Its run of the mill for hockey and basketball (Prudential Center is a much better building for hockey and Barclay's is better for basketball), and its cavernous for concerts (altho that can be said for most arenas aside from a few). Its got the benefit of being historic and having had some amazing moments in sports and culture, but its an old archaic building at this point that will likely be replaced within the next 20 years.

And because of Penn, you can get inside MSG much faster. I recently sat in the chase bridge section at MSG for a Ranger game, and thought it was fantastic

I recently sat in the chase bridge section at MSG for a Ranger game, and thought it was fantastic Yea I know they renovated, I was there for the US vs Puerto Rico game before that World Cup of Basketball thing. The bridge is cool but it looked to me like a gimmick. I also was there last year for a few Devils/Rangers games (and am again this season) and have felt the renovations were mostly cosmetic since the first time I experienced them. They didn't do much to improve the issues the building has always had IMO which mainly concern sightlines from the ends and the claustrophobic crowds when leaving the building via the towers. I do totally understand the thing with LIRR. I live in Hoboken, so while MSG is extremely easy to get to for me as well, Barclay's is only about 15 mins or so further afield.

If someone outside the US can only name one arena there, I bet it'll be Madison Square Garden.

MSG is the biggest name in entertainment period. Not just wrestling, but in everything. If you sell it out you are basically the shit..

I swear I heard that entrance way had been rebuilt/demolished and that's why we don't see it anymore.

And what's the deal with Madison Square Garden? I mean... it's not even a garden! What's the deal?!

DID YOU KNOW? There were 3 other Madison Square Gardens before this one. The first 2 were actually at Madison Square in NYC (5th & Broadway at 23rd St), while the 3rd was on 8th between 49th & 50th Sts. Always loved the WWE MSG events, but it really seems like the magic is gone when they redesigned the interior and got rid of the "alleyway." I've been bingewatching MAD MEN the last few weeks, and the arena's construction was a subplot in a Season 2 or 3 episode, where there was some strife in the city about wanting to build an arena in the middle of NYC and (especially) in the place of the original Penn Station. DID YOU KNOW? The leveling of Penn Station led directly to the formation of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission. ....I'll stop now, as only one sentence of this post was WWE related.

Here's a semi off topic question. In Highlander, Connor Macleod watches the Fabulous Freebirds wrestling at MSG but every bone in my body wants to shout that the Freebirds never wrestled for WWF, even though I'm obviously wrong. Who did they face?

How many other arenas would Godzilla choose as a nest?
Nuff said.

It's also one of the last old school wrestling venues.
What's left, The Tokyo Dome & Korakuen Hall?

I cannot be the only one who read this as "What's the big deal about Metal Gear Solid?". "Great" is usually bad news. Someone tells it, someone else remembers, everybody passes it on.

It's also one of the last old school wrestling venues. What's left, The Tokyo Dome & Korakuen Hall? I wouldn't even include the Tokyo Dome. It's a relatively new building, opening in 1988. Korakuen and the current MSG opened in the 1960s. I'm trying to think of other buildings, does WWE still run places like the Cow Palace and the Greensboro Coliseum?

Even outside wrestling it's a world famous arena in the media capital of the world that goes back decades. It's a prestigious for its history. Yeah...it is THE arena in the NBA. I feel it is huge for stand up/concerts as well.

Who did they face? They weren't around long, as babyfaces, and were fired/bolted quickly without ever establishing a program. Showed up for mostly 6-man tags against jobbers and after Roberts and Gordy were let go, a match or two of Hayes on his own before he bolted too.
