,,but were actually real. I thought that "Kazakhstan" was a made up country they came up with for Borat, but it turns out it really exists. I also thought that diverticulitis was something made up for the SNL Doug and Wendy Whiner sketches, but nope, its real and very serious. Finally, i had no idea that "my ding-a-ling" was a real song, i was convinced it was just a simpsons joke.

There was a film made in the 70s called Hitler: Last Ten Days which features a bizarre scene of Eva Braun singing Al Jolsen in blackface to some Nazi officers. Seemed like a particularly strange fiction thrown in to underscore the delusional nature of the Nazis in their final hours, but historical pictures have come out revealing Eva Braun did put on blackface specifically in reference to Jolsen.

Most everything on Seinfeld actually happened. the Contest, The Jon Voight car, the Soup Nazi, a girlfriend's belly having a funny voice, George attempting to steal an answering machine tape so his girlfriend wouldn't hear the message, most of season 4 is totally meta, some unknown story Jason Alexander tells on the DVDs were he went to Larry David, within the first couple of episodes, and said, "Larry, first off, this would never happen to anyone but if it did, no human being would ever react like this!" and Larry said, "What do you mean? This happened to me and that's exactly what I did", George quitting his job, regretting it and then deciding to go back and act like nothing happened, the Peterman Reality Bus Tour, hell, the John O'Hurly who played Peterman now owns a portion of the catalog.
The only thing they turned down for not being believable was Jennifer Crittenden pitched a story where Kramer decided to run everywhere he needed to go, so to get the mail, go to the coffee shop, whatever as a way to get his exercise, but that was actually based on something Simpsons writer John Swartzwelder actually did for a while.
