Just been told, in the ER and being admitted. No further details. I'm 3000 miles away and utterly helpless. And very scared.
FAN, I could use you right now please.

Jeebus man, nothing but the best. Certainly hope she is okay. Just try to keep a level head and not go overboard in panic mode.

Prelim diagnosis - jaundice, anemia, low tempature. She did have elevated liver levels earlier in the year, but they were improving until today. Will update as I know more, she is being admitted for further testing.

I'm sorry to hear that. If she is sick then a hospital should be the best place for whatever's going on to be addressed.

Does she have any known long-term health problems that would cause this or is a recent, unexpected development?
Hope she gets better soon.

She's in the best place right now, as much as hospitals and immediately having to go to A&E can be frightening, I assume you have communication with your family or an extended relative hence knowing this has happened, I'm sure they've told her how you're thinking of her.
Sending hope and thoughts you and your sisters way, sir.

She had some high liver levels earlier in the year, but all the tests came back normal, including for hep. She'd been seeing the doctor regularly and everything seemed fine until today. Waiting for more. Fairly concerned, to say the least.

Thanks everyone for the support.
Last update was she is undergoing an MRI for a closer look. Waiting to see if further tests will be needed or, God forbid, a liver biopsy. We wait and we hope.

Best wishes man.Very weird to read this because just two days ago my dad went in because of bad pain and after some tests we now know he has 3 cancerous tumors in his liver...so life sucks right now.

MRI results are back and show nothing abnormal. So a liver biopsy is scheduled for either Sunday or Monday to get a better read.
Do not like where this may be leading. At all.

Well, I think an MRI would show if it was anything REALLY serious like liver cancer, wouldn't it?
I don't know, I'm just trying to be optimistic and send some good vibes your way.

On the plus side, if they have to remove part of her liver then it will grow back. It is the only organ other than your skin that will do that. It also makes transplants easier to do.

Well, that's the trouble - if it's not cancer, what could be causing jaundice, anemia and a low grade fever? We know some things it's not, but that makes it worse. What could it be?

Damn. Hope the biopsy at least reveals the answer. I'm rooting for nothing serious.
