So I'm watching No Holds Barred and I remembered finding out very recently that Bill Eadie actually portrayed Jake Bullet in the opening match during the movie. It was amazing to me how the lack of facepaint and having a weird hairstyle made me not notice that Jake Bullet and Ax were the same person. So I came up with a fantasy booking idea for the summer of 1989 where instead of Zeus coming in to challenge Hogan it would be Jake Bullet. when the Brain Busters defeat Demolition for the tag titles, they could have easily injured Ax and put him on the shelf for several months. then in comes Jake Bullet to work a short program with Hogan. Smash continues as a solo for a while and perhaps occasionally teaming with other random guys to try and get revenge on the Brain Busters while Hogan and Eadie could at least put on somewhat decent matches on house shows and help promote the movie.

I was 10 in 1989, but when I saw the look in worry in Hogan's eyes when he hit Zeus with that chair and Zeus no-sold it, I thought Hogan was in some serious trouble. Personally, I didn't care about them having good matches, I just wanted to see if Hogan could actually hurt the guy. Now if I had been 35 in 1989, I would have said "this is going to suck"... where's Jake Bullet?

If only Jake Bullet had won the title from Rip. So much pain could have been avoided.
I (and I'm sure many others as well) always found it odd that appearently TV networks had contracts with wrestlers on an individual basis, as opposed to a deal with entire World Wrestling Federation as an organization.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

With all due respect, that sounds really terrible. Though to be fair, the matches might be slightly better than anything with Zeus., but that isn't saying much.

But Jake Bullet was kind of dispatched fairly easily in the first few minutes and really no threat. Especially compared to how Zeus was built in the movie.

I thought that was Iron Mike Sharpe for some reason.

Don't know if Masked Superstar could have worked solo by that point in time.

It may have seemed strange at the time, but four years later it actually did happen as due to the money involved Hogan signed a contract with Turner instead of just WCW.

I thought that was Iron Mike Sharpe for some reason. Not enough deep grunting and chest hair.
