Is just me or were the Sheepherders very similar to the Moondogs. They seemed to play the same type of role.

Ugh, that RR '92 match was horrendous... but yes, the crowds loved them.

Would have loved to see them just once change from being Bushwackers to Sheepherders in the WWF... just completely snap and brutalize a team, then go back to being Bushwackers as if nothing strange happened.

Luke runs a gym in Clearwater Beach, Florida right near Hogan's shop. If I lived in Florida, I'd be there everyday but not for Hogan, at the gym to see Luke. If you were wondering, Butch moved back here to New Zealand. Last I heard he was working for Rip Morgan's Kiwi Pro Wrestling as the on-screen commissioner. That's been a couple of years ago now though.

Smart guys. Their Sheepherder style gave them maybe another year anywhere near the mainstream, as Turner was fast approaching and most of the other major territories were dead or dying. Then it would have been off to Puerto Rico for them for another couple of years before they'd have to retire over injuries.
It's telling in how even at a point when McMahon was discarding a vast amount of the old guard in favor of younger talent, he doggedly held on to Luke and Butch.

In 1996, they competed in the tag title tournament that culminated in the Wrestlemania preshow (I believe) in which the Bodydonnas beat the Godwins (I believe). I also seem to recall one additional match on one of the weekend shows, basically as a "hey, remember them?" leading up to the tournament. It may have only been a promo but they were certainly there. Also, they had a remixed song, the classic with them saying "Honkey" over it. They may or may not have used it in an actual match but it was the version you could download on WWF's AOL site. I seem to recall them having that written on their tights, too. Which, by the way, weren't the traditional camo but instead were a plain, olive green pants with "honkey" written on the butt. I wish I was making that last sentence up. It was actually "Hongi" which is apparently some Australian phrase (Any Aussie FANs want to confirm that?).

HAha I forgot about the Hongi phase and their tops had a Bushwhackers logo in the middle. Around the WrestleMania time they had a kangaroo mascot come out, not sure that lasted long.

New Zealand =/= Australia.

I never enjoyed them at all, they were the jobbers of the tag division - but yes I agree they were super over. They were around until 1996 but I think 1993-1996 was very very sparodic. Other than the odd match with Well Dunn and there appearance as Doink at Survivor Series I dont remember seeing them much in 1993. I think in 1994 they did the rounds with the Heavenly Bodies a fair bit and in 1995 I cant remember them at all, then the last of the run was against the Body Donnas in the tag tournament.
When on earth did WCW want them?

You're not even close to being right man. 1) The Bushwhackers were awesome. Okay, that's subjective... but 2) Their match with the BodyDonnas was nowhere near the end of their WWE run. They were around for a good half of a year after that. They didn't do much, mostly just beat JBL/Dutch and the New Rockers, but they even got a few tag title shots during that period.

I met Luke at NYCC this year. Cool guy.
The Bushwhackers and Hacksaw Jim Duggan could pop a crowd like no other just by acting like adult children.

I remember the WWF did some sort of contest where they have away a summer vacation in a dream house, and the kid who was the lucky winner got a tour of the place ands at some point Luke and Butch jumped out of a closet. I remember this so well because my mom commented about how that poor kid was going to be scarred for life.

The Sheepherders were tolerable, but Bushwackers were pretty much a direct fast-forward for me, even when I was a kid. I always equated their overness with Hacksaw Duggan's. It wasn't so much them as the fact that the crowd just enjoyed chanting and doing the Bushwacker thing with their arms. YES! YES! YES!
