Ever wonder what an MLB pay stub looks like? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} That's a lot of withholding.

insulting the fans is probably the worst thing you can do in any types of business whether it be sports or a company who sells something to people it is not a smart move

The way he said it leaves a lot to be desired, but the message he's conveying is not wrong. The Phillies SHOULD be conservative right now. They're 19-28 and going nowhere fast. At best, they're at least a season or two away from even sniffing a pennant chase. What benefit would it give the organization to trade away Aaron Nola or Zach Eflin? Short-term solutions would not solve the long-term problems facing the Phillies. Dealing prospects and assets right now would be placing a band-aid on a bullet wound. If the organization caved to public pressure and dealt away their best prospects this season, it wouldn't do them any good in the immediate future and would only make matters worse for the extended future. The Phillies would be best served holding steady, dealing their veterans for more young players, and hoping that some of these prospects pan out. Obviously, his phrasing will rankle some, but he's right in what he's saying. The best course of action is to keep your young players in check. And as for the idea that fans don't understand the game, he's probably right with that as well. Let's not kid ourselves. We all like to think we're geniuses, but if any of us took the reigns of a baseball organization, we'd run that team into the ground within the first few hours of sitting at our desks. Not to say that Ruben Amaro is three steps ahead of the rest of the baseball world, but he's MILES ahead of any sports fan sitting at the local tavern or calling in to the local radio station.

The problem is that he's the reason the Phillies are in this predicament to begin with.

Good God, the Phillies are the cure for what ails the Mets. Next up are Miami, San Diego, and Arizona, so hopefully the Mets can continue to fatten up on the lower half of the league while Travis d'Arnaud gets back into the lineup next week off his hand injury.
The decent news for them right now is that Duda and Flores (Murphy too, though he's mostly hitting singles) have become more productive again lately. Getting d'Arnaud back healthy and into the #2 spot in the lineup would do wonders...still completely and hopelessly bummed about David Wright at the moment, though.

Bryce Harper is basically 2002 Barry Bonds right now. He's not the NL MVP, he's the best player in baseball at the moment.
I expect Trout to reclaim that title by season's end, but Harper has most definitely arrived. He's basically carrying the Nats to first place right now.

Offensively yes, Mad Max has also been awesome, pretty much carrying our pitching staff. We'll get Rendon back so hopefully the offense keeps on improving.

Josh Hamilton doubles on a first-pitch fastball for a double in his return to Texas. Big ovation, big smile from Hamilton.

Eduardo Rodriguez gives up zero runs in 8.2 innings in his debut tonight. Safe to say he's not going back to AAA.
