Quick pull of Hudson. Pulling Peavy super early did not work out I hope this does not either.

This is a crazy game and I agree with Bochy in pulling Hudson right now. His stuff just isn't there tonight and that hit batsmen was no where close to being intentional.

Don't agree with diving head-first into first base.
It slows you down.

That should be an out.

A great defensive play but also really bad fundamental baserunning by Hosmer.

Yeah, you never want to slide head-first into a base. Kills your speed.

Yeah, you never want to slide head-first into a base. Kills your speed. For someone who never played competitive baseball why do players slide into the base then? Is it to avoid the tag on non force outs?

I don't know. It's good for a quick dive to first base on an attempted put out.
Could just be a simple brainfart. It is game 7 of the World Series after all.

Yeah, you never want to slide head-first into a base. Kills your speed. Especially not first base.

Is it to avoid the tag on non force outs? Desperation..thinking they will get there quicker when it comes to first. Other bases it's to help avoid the tag and to slow you down so you don't go past the base. First base you don't ever want to slow down when you are running to it cause you can run through it without penalty. The sliding will slow you down that's why it's a big no no there.

Sometimes guys will slide into second or third to mess up a throw to first on a possible double play.

I don't know what kind of contract he'll net this off-season, but boy do I want to see Pablo Sandoval manning the hot corner for the Red Sox in 2014.
