they could have lost game 7 I wasn't talking about just Buckner....I'm talking about there whole season. There was a reason they were called the Miracle Mets. The Miracle Mets were the 1969 team, not the 1986 team. Were named so because Cubs were first in the pennant race until near the end of the season.

Dammit....this is almost like Phil Hartman's death. Thankfully, the child was unharmed.

ESPN OTL: Pete Rose bet on baseball while he was a player Say goodbye to ever getting in the HOF Not exactly new news. He admitted (and probably doesn't even remember anymore) that he bet on baseball as a player in his 2004 book. ESPN with it's usual hot take and thorough research.

So Michael Pineda, who's arguably been the Yankees' best pitcher, gets destroyed by the Phillies.
Gotta love this Yankee team. Worldbeaters one week, barely AA level the next.

The Red Sox appear to have their fall guy whom the organization and fans can point to in an effort to explain away another season that is slowly circling the drain. boston.cbslocal.com/2015/06/22/passan-hanley-ramirez-irking-multiple-red-sox-veterans/Even before the ink dried on his four-year contract with the Red Sox, I didn't like the deal one bit. However, Hanley Ramirez started the season by tearing the cover off the ball, so it quieted me down considerably. But then last night I was perusing Baseball Reference and came to the realization that Ramirez has a -0.6 WAR. He's hitting .273/.322/.478 with 15 home runs and 37 RBI, yet his outfield defense has been so abominable, he has become worse than a replacement-level player. In any event, I think the Red Sox will, yet again, be forced into a rebuild and they can start the process by shopping Ramirez around to other American League teams in need of a bat, who can afford to stash him at designated hitter where his abhorrent defense won't adversely impact the team. However, one trade won't cure their ills. The organization needs a purge. From the ownership group to the general manager to the manager to the coaches to the scouting department to the players, the entirety of Yawkey Way needs to be cleansed. I can deal with last-place finishes if I know there's a plan in place. The problem with the 2013 and 2014 Red Sox is that it appears that there's no plan whatsoever, it's just throwing stuff against the wall and seeing what sticks. The ownership group talked about how they weren't going to wed themselves to big-money contracts for veterans after the Carl Crawford/Adrian Gonzalez/Fat Josh Beckett fiascoes, and then they go out and splurge on Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval. They let Jon Lester walk because they don't want to shell out big money for him, then turn around and commit huge money to Rick Porcello before he throws his first pitch in a Red Sox uniform. As I said, I'm fine waiting a few years for the team to develop its young players and become contenders again. They are insanely loaded with young talent, including Xander Bogaerts, Mookie Betts, Blake Swihart, Rusney Castillo, Yoan Moncada, Rafael Devers, Manuel Margot, Eduardo Rodriguez, Henry Owens, Brian Johnson, and Anderson Espinoza. If I'm running the Red Sox, I'm pretty much floating out every active player with the exception of those 11, loading up on whatever prospects I receive for Ramirez, Sandoval, Buchholz, Ortiz, Pedroia, Uehara, etc. and conceding 2015 and 2016 with the full knowledge that the team could be a juggernaut in 2017 and for years to come.

Holy crap....that 8th was a bad inning for Rays fans. Bases loaded with only one out and the Rays couldn't get even one run as the next two guys both strike out.
By the way, Blue Jays beat the Rays 8-5. Big win for the Jays as the Yankees lose 11-8 to the Phillies.

Soooo, Kris Bryant is kind of a beast. I love the guy. Hell, the Cubs this year has been overall, very fun and exciting.

* 2B Infante's lead has extended Makes sense he'd be leading Jose Altuve, Altuve is just leading him in every category. That's not even getting into what Kipinis, who should be starting, is doing. If they want to continue this "The winner of the All Star Game gets home field in the World Series" nonsense, they've got to take away the fan vote, and the 1 representative from every team rule. Make it a committee of managers that chooses the players, because you get nonsense like Infante leading the vote.

No, I would keep the 1 representative per team rule, just do away with the fan voting.

Omar Infante's stats through 2015: Batting Average - .230 On-Base Percentage - .237 OPS - .548 Home Runs - 0 RBI - 19 WAR - 0.2 ALL-STAR
