David Ross coming over to the Cubs to catch for Jon Lester again. I presume Miguel Montero will be the regular starter, however.

I guess the Yanks really want to give this Rob Refsnyder guy a chance as the everyday 2B. I liked Prado but he wasn't great, but Phelps was way too inconsistent. And while Eovaldi doesn't have great stats, he's an innings eater (1 out shy of 200 IP last year), so that's good. The Yanks really need one of those.

Eovaldi has actually improved every year the last few years. Check out his 2014 FIP for example. ERA is not the only indicator. He will also be saved from Jeter retiring

He will also be saved from Jeter retiring The problem with Eovaldi is that, too often, he tries to use an overpowering fastball to get out of trouble and that gets him into even more trouble.

He will also be saved from Jeter retiring Gregarious is supposed to be a solid defensive shortstop, though his numbers were probably weakened by being in an overall horrendous defense in the Dbacks. Like Brandon McCarthy had a hideous ERA in Arizona but his FIP was always pretty good. Then he got to the Yankees who have competent fielding and his ERA went down dramatically.

According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, starter Dan Haren is "holding out hope" for a trade to the Angels or Padres.

Like Brandon McCarthy had a hideous ERA in Arizona but his FIP was always pretty good. Then he got to the Yankees who have competent fielding and his ERA went down dramatically. I do think the Yankees did some smart things this offseason; given the chance, Cashman is pretty decent at finding guys in back circumstances and extrapolating their advanced metrics to figure out if they'll do well in the Bronx; I remember him getting Nick Swisher largely on the back of Swisher's BABIP being so low the year before he went to the Yankees, and Cashman just smartly banked on that bouncing back for him, particularly in such a good hitters park. And while I had zero desire whatsoever to see the Mets get him (I still can't comprehend why some Mets fans are whining about not trading for him), I think Yankees fans will love Gregorious just based on how much better he'll be than Jeter has been the past couple of seasons. Just by being steady on defense and hitting to the tune of a .690 OPS, he'll be a marked improvement. Most of the Mets sites I go to are in full-on "Let's debate Tulowitzki to death" mode. Frankly, I haven't liked any of the potential shortstops the Mets could've traded for or signed this offseason, and Tulo, while a remarkable, perennial All Star talent, is still a titanic injury risk, has not resumed baseball activities since his recent hip surgery, and would cost the Mets a king's ransom in prospects and young MLB-level talent. Screw it: roll with Wilmer Flores. Small sample size, I know, but once the kid was allowed to play every day last season he started hitting to the tune of a +.720 OPS and didn't embarrass himself in the field outside of one particularly bad series in LA. I do fear him and Murphy being on the field at the same time up the middle, but the fact is that both guys have defensive shortcomings for different reasons: for example, Flores is sure-handed but has a limited range, while Murphy's accuracy isn't great but he's actually become a fairly range-y second baseman. Plus, the Mets are a high strikeout/fly ball staff, so I'm willing to roll with it. Plus, odd as it is to say, Ruben Tejada actually makes for a very good bench piece for both of them; I just don't want to see him as a starter anymore, is all. Ugh, is the offseason really only halfway over? I usually need the Devils and Giants to take away the pain of a Mets season, but now I'm actually legitimately pumped about the 2015 Mets and am tired of watching my hockey and football teams blow chunks all over the place this season.

I feel you on the Giants and Devils.
I'm that odd sort of Yankee fan who wants to see the Mets do well and I think they have a lot of potential to have at least a solid 2015 season. Maybe not playoff-caliber, but definitely an over .500 one, especially with Matt Harvey coming back. Michael Cuddyer is a low risk, high reward signing and someone I think will do well in Flushing. I also expect Granderson to have a better season than he did in 2014 and hopefully Wright gets back on track. If everything works out right, having Granderson, Wright, Cuddyer, and Murphy in the middle of your lineup could make for a good offense.
I also agree about Tulo and that's the reason I wouldn't want him on the Yankees. Lord knows they've been dealing with enough injury problems the last couple of seasons. Great talent, but he can never stay healthy. I also think his overall offensive stats will take a hit once he calls a ballpark home that isn't Coors Field.
The perfect shortstop would be Jose Reyes, really. He played Citi Field to his strengths instead of letting it be this massive psychological barrier. And from every off-the-record conversation I've heard with him, he really wants to come back to Queens. Unfortunately, I don't think the Wilpons want to open the checkbook for his talents. And you'd have to give up some pretty nice prospects or players to Toronto in order to get him in a trade.
