Glen Jacobs was a guy decorated for Christmas, a knockoff Kevin Nash, and a wrestling dentist before becoming Kane. He has gone on to have one on the longest tenured HOF careers in WWE history. Everyone can be repaired.
People forget that back in the day guys would wrestle for 10 years before hitting their stride and finding what works. Now, if a guy is 30 we write him off. That is the great thing about the wrestling business, you can literally become someone else and erase your past.

Sub question then: who has actually ever been damaged beyond repair? No existing talent counts because they still have a chance of redemption on the basis of still being active. Who in history has actually been damaged badly enough that even attempts to re-push them didn't work? Would Del Rio count? Dude actually was pretty hot as a heel when he first started and beat Rey Mysterio clean in his debut match. Then, he began babbling on and on about his destiny, lost a bunch of title matches (you could make an argument that he was never the same after losing at WM 27) and eventually was reduced to people sitting on their hands when he came out despite him still being pushed as a "top" guy.

Even then, there were a couple of times when they had something that might have worked, like Del Rio teasing a run as a deluded People's Champion after cashing in on Punk, or his face run before he amped up the Mexican patriotism.

Who in history has actually been damaged badly enough that even attempts to re-push them didn't work? Would Terry Taylor count? Even repackaging him in WCW and a breif return to the fed, he always pretty much immediately dropped off the radar, couldn't even get a solid mid card push working.

Scratching my head at revisionist Ryback history: the IWC mostly HATED the fact that he got pushed to the main event, the reaction was at or above the level of Roman Reigns with the "pushed down our throat" threads and posts all over the board.
I thought he was hot, I wanted to see him come out on top and get the big push. But noooooo, can't have anything get in the way of Punk's push no matter how much sense it made for Ryback to get over, no matter how hot Ryback was with the crowds (while Punk was floundering as a heel). The Punk feud buried him.
Now, time has passed and suddenly there are all these Ryback supporters ... but when the iron was hot this forum seemed 90 percent against him getting a push.

The poster child of irreparable damage is Zack Ryder. He was the one of the most over guys out there and sold a ton of merch, only for all his heat to be siphoned to an otherwise forgettable Cena/Kane feud and turned into a jobber with no personality. I never felt as though they were legitimately pushing Ryder. To me it always seemed like: "If we push this guy for a little while maybe the fans will finally shut up about him" and not "Hey the fans really like this guy, lets give a him a push and see how it goes".

Nick Dinsmore after the Eugene character. That would've been very hard. I always had the idea of him revealing he was feigning being special as a result of a bet with his OVW tag partner Rob Conway that he wouldn't be able to pull it off. Then they got go back to being a heel tag team, but that would kinda be in bad taste.

I have brought this up a few times in previous threads and was basically told I imagined the Ryback hate. The only thing I don't agree with is that not putting the belt on Ryback wasn't done in favor of Punk's run.. It was done in favor of not changing the plans for Cena/Rock at WM to be for the belt.

So if he becomes incredibly useless in matches and suddenly quits matches against guys like Miz, the internet will love Roman Reigns?

Think back to fall 2012. Think of where Jack Swagger was at that point. A few months later, he's got a World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania.
In my opinion, that is the ultimate definition of "no one in WWE is irreparable." If they decide that it's someone's time to get a big push, they'll do it.

Unless you have a definitive list of who did and didn't like Ryback at the time, this isn't really a fair assessment to make. I wouldn't say the forum was 90% against him, I'd say it was a fairly even split, especially because a lot of people like myself didn't care for it at first and then he eventually got over with us. Also, hindsight is 20/20. Just like Cena will be much more accepted as an all-time great once people don't have to bother with him every week.

I don't see why I need to keep score to post that most of the people who posted were against Ryback's push at the time. I didn't write down the names of people who a year ago wanted Daniel Bryan to win WM, but it's OK to post that it was true even if I don't have their names.

My point was more that if you're levelling that accusation at this thread's worth of people supporting Ryback, without knowing how many of them if any were against his push at the time, it's kinda nonsensical, or rather simply unfounded.
