The more I think about WM1 I really think it would have been 1000x better if they just had Hogan vs. Piper one on one. I understand they had to do a tag match cause Hogan and piper were both refusing to job, but a celebrity tag match?
Was there no way Hogan and piper could've just brawled to a draw?

If you didn't have one of the biggest pop culture icons of the time main eventing Wrestlemania I, you probably never get Wrestlemania 2.

They had just wrestled one another at The War to Settle the Score.
Having them wrestle again one on one again a month later would have been stupid, especially since Roddy "refused" to put Hogan over clean.
At the time, Vince looked at both events on equal billing, and Mr. T did have a lot to do with the success. In Vince's mind...it was the third act of a 3 part series.

Mr. T was an integral part of the first WrestleMania. He was one of the people who was most instrumental in putting it over the top, and he fit seamlessly into "sports entertainment". It was a match made in heaven.

Perhaps, but the important thing is that he called his mother the day of the event to say he loved her.

No. Mr. T helped get that first Wrestlemania into pop culture, where it's at now. You needed to have that first main event be something special. And while it's not a great in ring match, it's extremely important because Mr. T is there. It's one of the few, if not only time, a celebrity match truly worked.

According to Mean Gene's rf shoot, Snuka was supposed to be on that spot, they were building him as a huge babyface during that era...but then a certain girl had an accident and allegedly Snuka played friendly savage while Vince talked to the police.

Too many superfly splashes on the bed? Lol poor Nancy. The case is gonna be reviewed by a grand jury apparently. We'll never know what happened, Snuka told the cops conflicting stories, allegedly on one he pushed her and she hit her head, on the other story she jumped from the roof...

I just think Wrestlemania 1 looks really depressing with just how dark the arena is.
I know alot of shows were like that in the day but still, just had a really doomie atmosphere.

You have to look at it through 80's goggles, MrT was a huge star at the time, he helped put wrestling on the map for the 80's boom.

Ok so if Mr T was so good for mania then how come his boxing match at mania 2 isn't so legendary? Because not everything everyone does has to be legendary? And even then, it was another big part of WrestleMania 2 and certainly more memorable than Hogan vs Bundy.

Ok so if Mr T was so good for mania then how come his boxing match at mania 2 isn't so legendary? If Hulk Hogan was so good for Mania then how come his title win at WM9 isn't so legendary? If WrestleMania is so good then how come WM 11 isn't so legendary? If Superman is so good then how come 'Man of Steel' wasn't so legendary? If Bob Newhart is so good how come 'Bob' wasn't so legendary? If pizza is so good how come frozen pizza isn't so legendary?
