Brett McMurphy @espn poll of 103 FBS coaches 44% want 8-team playoff, 29% 4-teams, 17% 16-teams not happening anytime soon. They cannot adjust it until the current contract is up in ten yrs We got a playoff. I'm fine. Why can't they? Is restructuring really that hard? Would ESPN hate carrying more playoff games?

Would ESPN hate carrying more playoff games? Well, unfortunately, it would cut into ESPN's busy schedule of showing World Series of Poker, Little League Baseball, and Skip Bayless and Stephan A. Smith acting like complete and total smegheads.

I don't think ESPN would have much issue transitioning to whatever playoff the NCAA decides to stick to.
My only question is when does it stop? No matter how many teams you put in one playoff, the odd person out will always have a segment of fans and the media who will say they were screwed and should have made it in. You can't continue to change the rules to suit whoever that odd person out is. There has to be a balance that puts the best teams against each other and doesn't get ridiculous.

At least use something like Bowling, or Winter X games. LL is mid to late Summer....

IIRC that was part of the initial contract. They can't expand it. I don't know if there is a proviso that would allow for A unanimous vote to go to eight. The BCS had some term minimum too. That was one of the Why not's when the playoff was discussed mid 2000's

Yale vs. Harvard. The Game.
Tight battle so far, as Yale leads at the half 7-3.

Wake Forest misses a field goal as time expires in regulation and it will go to OT with Virginia Tech. The last FBS game to finish regulation tied at 0-0 was Florida Atlantic-Arkansas State in 2005.
