Younger Abyss had lots of classic matches and his work as Joseph Park showed a lot of great range. Hes pretty broken down these days but thats because he gave this company everything he had. I will never wish Abyss away and if this company somehow survives I hope they give him a job for life behind the scenes or as an on air character.

Nothing against the guy, but lets do a comparison: Kane, upon whom Abyss is obviously based, is several years older, has been wrestling a lot longer, and has been through abuse every bit as bad as Abyss has. Yet Kane is in far better physical condition and is still capable of scraping out good, sometimes great matches. Abyss needs to either retire from on-screen action and just settle into working backstage, or he needs to take a long time off, drop some serious poundage, rest and rehab his body, get a new outfit, and come back with a total reboot on his character-much the way Kane has done several times.

I think the big difference in terms of real life damage comes down to two things: 1) Kane bumps like the safest man on the planet, and rarely bumps clean or does ludicrous weapon spots. I mean, watch him take a DDT or Pedigree, he lands on his knees and hands! 2) Abyss takes FULL on chair shots, once punched his fist through a real casket for some reason, and dozens of other stupid things in his hardcore gimmick brawls. That may not seem like a problem with recovery time but he's an independent pro-wrestler who likely won't have had the benefit of surgeries WWE offers their own guys when they're really breaking down. A lack of healthcare makes things worse for independent workers in general, which is depressing to think on.

He was working so well as Joesph Park and made some great strides with his character why they threw it all away to make him a tired and non threatening Abyss again I will never understand.

I knew the end had come for Abyss as any sort of threat to anyone when he cut that one horrible promo on Bram and was like "BARBED WIIIiIIIRREEE!!!" I mean, what the hell?

I loved the Joseph Park character, and I think that really showed his true talent.
He made a LAWYER character THE MOST OVER FEEL-GOOD FACE IN THE COMPANY.
Plus, he played the guy-just-learning-trying-to-get-good-at-wrestling-in-the-ring psychology better than anyone who has ever done it. While the tail-end of it did get redundant, that shouldn't mar how great the bulk of it was.

The character was amazing, Abyss deserves a ton of credit for how well he played that character. Just a shame that it had to get ruined like so many other things in TNA because they ran it into the ground and didn't know the proper time to end it.

You could have also said that Abyss is a moron that doesn't know that less is more when it comes to hardcore wrestling and that if you do stupid shit in every brawl then it means less each time.

Storms new group has got to be one of the weakest looking stables ive ever seen. I know a lot of people call it a Wyatt Family rip off but at least Wyatt had to big, credible guys at his side. Imagine if he had Sin Cara and Zack Ryder instead

I have missed this Abyss since about 2006 I would say. I have not watched TNA in months. It's far too shitty for me to try and remember it's on Wednesdays now.

This is the only place where I've seen people genuinely dislike Abyss so much.
What's the deal? Does the whole Kane/Mankind thing really bother y'all that much?
