So far, the MCU hasn't disappointed or failed me. If anyone could make that mess of a storyline into something good, and it does have the potential to be good despite how far the comic missed the mark, it's this studio.
Please don't disappoint.

It can't be worse than the book
also I just hope phase 3 isn't as weak as Phase 2

Age of Ultron was an overhyped let-down, but among the best bits were {Spoiler}{Spoiler}The Cap/Stark tension at the farm and the brief skirmish at Avengers Tower over the decision to activate Vision, so Civil War better add to that

I sincerely hope they do a much better job with this than the comics did. The story still has a lot of potential. Especially since Iron Man is so much more likeable in the movies.

Although Variety technically broke the news a few weeks ago, Daniel Brühl has officially confirmed to The Independent that he will appear as the villain Baron Zemo in Captain America: Civil War, but with one little twist: He will be playing Baron Helmut Zemo,
“I think I can tell you that without being thrown into Marvel prison,” Brühl said. “For the first few days I’ll walk around like a little boy, just amazed by the megalomania of it. It’s such a huge project. We could do 20 films with the budget.”
Baron Zemo won’t be the only villain Cap has to contend with in the new film (which starts shooting today in Atlanta, Berlin and Puerto Rico), as Frank Grillo just Tweeted today about his previously-announced return to the fold as Crossbones.

I think what adds is that they've really built Tony Stark well in the MCU since the first movie... especially since Avengers. They show how he doesn't want those he cares about to be hurt, they show how he wants to do whatever it takes to make sure he can save everybody, and it sounds like Age of Ultron adds to that as well. Same with Cap, ever since his first movie, they've shown how much it means to him to be willing to sacrifice himself to make life better for everyone else. Also they have shown why Cap doesn't approve of the idea of biting a problem before it happens. Civil War in the comics made the mistake of Tony feeling bad about an event he had no control over while Cap pretty much just said "no I'm not registering". The idea is a good one for a movie, and I think they've really done a good job for a few movies showing the ideological differences between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers

He was considered a Government employee and was already "registered". From what I remember Cap's problem was forcing people that didn't do anything wrong and were only out to make the world a better place register under threat of incarceration. It also didn't help that they basically made Tony start a complete asshole (while Marvel decided he was in the right) and someone claiming Captain America was out of touch because he didn't have a myspace page or watch NASCAR

So what is the catalyst for the film version going to be as we have no New Warriors this time. Or are we somehow going to get Nitro to demolish an american suburb again anyway?
Nothing in A:AoU really screamed must make a registration act pronto.

I thought that the Hulkbuster fight might've had something to do with that, plus surely it would eventually be public knowledge who created Ultron?

Nothing in A:AoU really screamed must make a registration act pronto. From what I hear, the impetus for registration will be the same, but it'll be Crossbones instead of Nitro. Now how they're gonna pull that off, I don't know, but it makes sense that in light of the fall of SHIELD and the Ultron incident, a wide-scale massacre by a former SHIELD/STRIKE agent would be the last straw.

Maybe Daniel Bruhl's character (who might be a World Security Council member) leads the charge for worldwide superhuman regulation?

As someone who's never read the comic version, is Civil War something they can wrap up in one movie, or do we think shits still gonna be hittin the fan at the end and wrap up (somewhat) in Infinity Wars?
