Yeah, look at how they buried him tonight by having him take Ryback to the limit, and get one over on a main eventer. What a jokester! I'm sorry but I'm so freaking tired of hearing "but he looked good in defeat!" So what? It don't matter. Cesaro's gonna be in the exact same "jobber to the stars" spot he is after this match. Let's look at Edge losing by the skin of his teeth to Kurt Angle at Backlash 2002 since, to me, that's a prime example of a guy actually looking like a star in defeat. Edge had an awesome long, competitive match with a top-tier talent and got beat. Not even via cheating or anything, Angle was simply the better man that night. You know what they did with Edge after that? THEY PUSHED HIM HARD. They didn't just let him go back to dicking around in the mid-card after that. He was pushed as, essentially, a top-level guy on Smackdown and got plenty of matches with guys like Angle, Benoit, and Guerrero. f***'s sake, they let him have a tag title run with Hulk Hogan. They took that match and used it as a launching point to build some serious momentum for Edge. If Cesaro isn't consistently booked as a top-level guy after this, what does it matter if he took a main eventer to the limit? A month from now, nobody's even gonna remember it because he'll be right back to doing a whole lot of nothing just like he was before the match. It's the exact same argument I had with people when they were trying to say that Damien Sandow "looked like a star" when he failed at his MITB cash-in. BTW, to those people, I'm still waiting for you to finish your serving of crow. A guy can have competitve matches with top guys all day and all night and it don't matter if those matches aren't combined with strong, consistent booking. Cesaro wasn't buried tonight but let's not pretend he was treated as anything but a middle of the road heel that is 100% expendable. I am going to agree with you that consistency is king in wrestling, and I do genuinely hope he can be in an angle or otherwise be used with more regularity.

There's hope for Cesaro yet. Him always jobbing but at least in competitive longer matches helps him from being a Heath Slater level jobber, and well, look at Ryback. All it takes is a good push and Cesaro is back. I'm still optimistic that they'll give him a good push sometime in the future.

You're surprised by this? Seriously, booking at the moment is in a really strange place.

Its not that Cesaro was buried, its just that pointless swerves and the continued use of him as an aimless heel mid-carder since WM are such a waste of a great talent. I'm not gonna say its going to hurt his ability to be over and get the crowd on his side (as I think he's versatile enough to get them back) but its astounding to me for a free PPV they're choosing to showcase likes of the Big Show aspart of the major babyface team and not Cesaro.

I loved how he got no reaction when he came out for a what seemed to be a face turn.

He'll be fine. There's a reason why Cesaro gets to have a competitive match with Ryback while Wrestler X gets squashed. There's a reason why they brought Cesaro out to tease joining Team Cena and not Wrestler Y. A lot of guys would kill to get the moments that Cesaro gets.

He can still be salvaged obviously but for God's sake give the man a new entrance theme.

He can still be salvaged obviously but for God's sake give the man a new entrance theme. I wish he had the Dean Malenko one back, that was quite nice. Though, with him going to a vaguely Perry Saturn one, maybe he's going to get an Eddie influenced one and offer the ladies a taste of Swiss Chocolate.

I'm kinda glad it was a swerve, because a face turn in front of that dead crowd would have been even worse.

Cesaro needs a manager of the non Paul Heyman variety. And since Lana is one of the top heatseekers in the company currently, pair him up with her.

Instead of standing with the heels he should have got on the mic and declared himself officially neutral before wandering off and leaving both sides confused.
Seriously the Swiss guy always remaining neutral in other people's conflicts could an interesting character trait that could be taken in a few directions.

I find it really hard to do the whole "but he looked good defeat" thing when Cesaro hasn't won a match in nearly a month.

I'm confident Cesaro will get pushed at some point. They have actually kept him hovering around the upper midcard for the last few months-challenging for the US and IC belts, a frequent opponent for Dean Ambrose and Ryback, and trying to get in on the SS main event. That said, it does feel like a waste that he always goes under without getting his heat back in some way, and it's still inexplicable thst they started to build him only to toss it all away shortly after. If they go through with their stated plans, I expect to see Cesaro as a challenger to Reigns for the belt.

While watching the Cesaro vs Ryback match, I thought that they will go with the misawa/kobashi route where even though kobashi lost his first 63 matches (in competitive and close matches being said) misawa saw something on him and picked him for the 6 man tag team match against jumbo tsuruta
Still, if cena isnt there, is for the best that he doesn't fight for cena, since they will blame him for being the weak link

I knew they couldn't push him. At this point of getting screwed for a living this hard, his name might as well be Allie Haze.
