Elton for me, mostly based on his early albums: Elton John, Tumbleweed Connection, Honky Chateau.

They both have great songs. One of my favorite lines from a Billy Joel song is "we might be laughing a bit too loud, but that never hurt no one" it reminds me of times when my best friend and I get together. I have a few Elton John songs on my iPod. He has a lot of songs that my mom and I both like, so that's why I can't choose lol.

Billy Joel. I like Elton John but I love Billy Joel. He's such a fantastic songwriter and storyteller.

I like both, but I feel like Elton is just a little more naturally talented.

Nothin against Elton, I like his music. But Billy Joel is in my top 5 favorite music acts of all time. The Stranger being a fantastic album doesn't hurt either.

I've seen both live.
If I could only see one of them one more time, it would be Billy Joel.
"My Life", "Extremes" and "Only the Good Die Young" are faves.
And "Piano Man" live is an event in itself

John is a better piano player, Joel is a way better singer (his range is insane when he decides to use it). But both are freaking awesome at both. I prefer Joel for his song structure though.

I'm going to go with Joel, but I like both. Also, if I don't pick him, he's going to plow into my house with his car.

Billy Joel all the way. Elton certainly has some good songs, but Billy Joel's made me go out and buy every album he's released. Much better storyteller and writer in his songs.

It's close, but song for song, Billy Joel is almost like a solo Beatles-everything is great.

Both guys have a ridiculous amount of talent. It's very close, but I give the nod to Joel because I like a little bit more of his stuff than I do Elton's I'm going to go with Joel, but I like both. Also, if I don't pick him, he's going to plow into my house with his car. I laughed a lot harder at this than I should have.

For body of work, Elton John, especially because he wrote "Saturday Night"
For the mere fact that he ba-doinked Christy Brinkley, Billy Joel gets the nod in that department.

Billy Joel's good, but he didn't co-write Tumbleweed Connection, or Caribou or The Lion King or Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Elton's a freaking pimp.

Being from Long Island I believe I am contractually obligated to vote for Billy Joel. I second that, and also Billy Joel has had an interesting life. Plus I love doing Piano Man at karaoke
