didn't see one so I'm making one. I'm really enjoying the game, though the massive changes to how combat is played were a bit of an adjustment. and man is the game hard. I had to switch to casual difficulty like an hour in maybe I'll play Normal on my next playthrough but I gotta practice at this first. not crazy about the ridiculous Skyrim-esque fetch-quest overload, either, but the other new additions to the game make it feel very fresh. I'm of 2 minds bout the Dragon Keep thing. on the one hand it's nice to come up with a new playthrough without having to play Dragon Age 1 and 2 again, on the other hand it was a bit time-consuming and I had to wrack my brains a bit to remember how my 2 playthroughs I was sitting on went. also I got the PS3 version and everyone looks like they're made out of plastic. Leliana in particular got hit pretty hard, she looks like Shiny Maude Flanders. these are mostly just nitpicks, though and I look forward to playing the rest of it.

I have the other two games for PS3, and bought the PS4 version of Inquisition. If you have internet access and don't mind farting around on dragonagekeep.com for a few minutes, it will make no difference at all. Dragonagekeep.com (also, Bioware) has kept all your characters if you've signed up a profile on their page. You can just go in and choose the starting world to be like whatever characters you want (so, say you have a warden who lived, loved Morrigan, and Alistair is king; and a Hawke who was a warrior who defended the mages and kept Anders alive, you could upload those into the custom world, and choose that option when playing Inquisition. Or, if you had a Warden who died and a Hawke who sided with the templars, you could go with them or any mish-mash of the 4 different versions). I haven't played too far into the game yet, myself, but I am a tiny bit annoyed that the previous characters seem inconsequential. The Warden, IMO, was one of the most powerful and best fantasy RPG video game characters I'd ever played as, yet he seems completely forgotten. They refer to Hawke kinda like "Oh yeah, that guy. Yeah, he was sort of there too, I guess." I feel like they're downplaying all the work you did in the previous installments. Oh well, maybe as I go along, that will change. Like I said, I'm not very far into it yet.

as far as continuing the story, it doesn't matter even going PS3, you can't import save information. The best you can do is go to the dragon age keep website and set up your "world state"

There is a place to input all the relevant info from your previous games characters on the bioware website to have that continuity aspect with your character. That's if you remember the choices you made in the previous games.

Well, I just upgraded my pc (upgraded meaning I kept my HDD, sound and graphics cards) and I like what I have seen so far so I'll give it a go. Pity I cannot transfer my saves over on the pc though.

Yeah, I figure I'll either get the PC version and hope it can run respectably or wait until I pick up a PS4 eventually. Disappointed that the last gen console versions don't look good, though the console Dragon Ages were never lookers.
btw, PC specs are: Core 2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.7 gHz clock speed, Geforce GTX 650 with 1 gig RAM, 4 gigs of RAM, and I'd be aiming to run it on a 1600x900 resolution. I do want to upgrade my CPU, motherboard, and RAM eventually to something that supports an Intel Core i5 of some kind with a few additional gigs of RAM.

Origin has Battlefield 4 on free time at the moment. They both use the Frostbyte engine so it might be worth a look.
As to my new specs, I have exactly the same graphics card as you, but I basically bought a barebones setup. AMD Fx 3.50 ghz 6 core processor. Gigabyte 970a - DS3P mobo and 8 gigs of ram.
Now even on my old pc (1.66 Zoostorm cheapo - so old it can't take more than 4 gigs of ram) I could run Battlefield 4 at a reasonable pace if I turned the graphics down (quite a bit).

Well, I spent ages doing The Keep (very detailed, quite impressed) and now it's finally unlocked for Euro people I'm enjoying it.
One thing - the benchmark facility in game is bollocks. It gave me a result of 14 -18 fps. The exact same scene in game (with the same settings) was smooth as silk.

I kind of want to play it but I am the kind of guy who likes to do the previous games in the entry. The problem I have is that I just can't get into the first game. I tried to play it, got about 5 hours and just lost interest. I think it may have had to been my character. But right now I am too busy with other stuff. Any recommendations for a good character for the first.

I'm torn about this. I absolutely loved DA:O (for the most part) and disliked DA2 (for the most part). Is Inquisition closer to the former or the latter in gameplay or is it a third style in 3 games?

I picked this up on a complete whim. I've never played a Dragon Age game before (I have Origins on my shelf, yet have never touched it), so all I was going on is the act I knew it is a long RPG.
So far I'm really enjoying it. I'm just running around the Hinterlands completing little quests. Haven't advanced at all in the main story (At least I don't think I have). I started by making a tank bull-man, but didn't like his look and re-made my character to a human dual-wield rouge and Im having a blast with him.
And can anyone give me a brief on the online mode? I haven't tried it yet, so is it worth getting into? I got sad when I realized I couldn't use my rouge and went back to single player.

I'm torn about this. I absolutely loved DA:O (for the most part) and disliked DA2 (for the most part). Is Inquisition closer to the former or the latter in gameplay or is it a third style in 3 games? it's actually not a whole hell of a lot like either of them in terms of gameplay. combat's more hack-and-slash like DA2 was but it's also a lot like Skyrim, actually. and there's a lot more emphasis on open world exploration. and you can jump now, which takes some getting used to because I'm used to X being the attack button. and there's horsies now, too. they split the collectathons and actual quests into 2 categories now, as well. the overworld map uses a fast travel system similar to Fallout/Skyrim and you also have the option to send one of your 3 advisors to run off and do their own missions and depending on the mission/advisor you sent it takes different amounts of time to do with variable results dependant on who you sent. you still get approval/disapproval from party members but you can do their quests regardless of how they feel about you like in part 2. the romances have been scaled back from "everyone can pair with everyone" back to being gender (and sometimes race) specific, which, honestly feels a lot more realistic and less pandery. you can craft your own equipment and the process for making potions is a lot more streamlined than it used to be. you also build up your organization's influence which lets you buy perks that give permanent passive bonuses and open up new dialogue trees. it seems to be very hard to play the same game twice, which is great considering that's one issue I always had with Bioware titles. the first zone you go to feels a bit too sandboxy (way too much to do and it causes the plot to grind to a halt) but that scales back a bit afterwards. if I had any major criticisms of the game (poor textures on PS3 aside) it's that Bioware's still doing a pretty lousy job of making the Templars seem sympathetic. they're even bigger dicks now than they were in DA2. the characters are mostly pretty cool and I give Bioware some credit for not just recycling old concepts for the most part.

Uh, does this game choose your sex at random or something? I just started two games, both times I was female and was unable to change it. The third time it made me a male?

Are the pirate girl with the massive rack, the elf with Balthiers voice, the elf girl that I had an unexplainable crush on and Varric in it?

Varric is certainly in the game, as to the others....All I can say (just started the Hinterlands so I have only really done the prologue so far) is that you put all their details in the Keep to create your world state. So maybe further down the line ? Even right at the beginning you can see some results of your decisions being shown in some very brief cutscenes where Leliana sends those message-birds out. {Spoiler}Also, I found it very strange to be wandering around Haven after those Dragon Cult bastards twatted my party time after time after time there in DA:O
