I'm liking it, but it looks like shit on PS3. Varric's not his handsome self.

I'm torn about this. I absolutely loved DA:O (for the most part) and disliked DA2 (for the most part). Is Inquisition closer to the former or the latter in gameplay or is it a third style in 3 games? it's actually not a whole hell of a lot like either of them in terms of gameplay. combat's more hack-and-slash like DA2 was but it's also a lot like Skyrim, actually. and there's a lot more emphasis on open world exploration. and you can jump now, which takes some getting used to because I'm used to X being the attack button. and there's horsies now, too. they split the collectathons and actual quests into 2 categories now, as well. the overworld map uses a fast travel system similar to Fallout/Skyrim and you also have the option to send one of your 3 advisors to run off and do their own missions and depending on the mission/advisor you sent it takes different amounts of time to do with variable results dependant on who you sent. you still get approval/disapproval from party members but you can do their quests regardless of how they feel about you like in part 2. the romances have been scaled back from "everyone can pair with everyone" back to being gender (and sometimes race) specific, which, honestly feels a lot more realistic and less pandery. you can craft your own equipment and the process for making potions is a lot more streamlined than it used to be. you also build up your organization's influence which lets you buy perks that give permanent passive bonuses and open up new dialogue trees. it seems to be very hard to play the same game twice, which is great considering that's one issue I always had with Bioware titles. the first zone you go to feels a bit too sandboxy (way too much to do and it causes the plot to grind to a halt) but that scales back a bit afterwards. if I had any major criticisms of the game (poor textures on PS3 aside) it's that Bioware's still doing a pretty lousy job of making the Templars seem sympathetic. they're even bigger dicks now than they were in DA2. the characters are mostly pretty cool and I give Bioware some credit for not just recycling old concepts for the most part. Thank you man, that was extremely informative. It definitely seems that Bioware's took a few cues from Bethesda. I'm just hoping that that's not as bad as it sounds... I've watched a few game play videos, read some reviews and did a bit of other research, but I'm still on the fence about this. If I'd heard better things about the PS3 version I'd pick it up, but I'm unsure if I'm justified in buying a PS4... yet. Between DA:I and the GTA V redux it is close but we still get a ton of mileage out of our PS3. It doesn't help that my wife dislikes Dragon Age and all of the more complex RPGs where you control parties. (I tried to get her playing Dungeon Siege back in the day but nope.) She loves Skyrim though. They need to release a next-gen version on the PS4 already with bug fixes and less loading screens (maybe even a console command type feature so you can try to fix your own bugs). We wouldn't even have to discuss getting a current-gen console then. She'd be all up in that. I'm guessing there's no chance that Inquisition's one of those games that's piss-easy to pick up and play and only gets as complex as you make it via exploring non-essential ways of playing? Yeah, didn't think so.

Are the pirate girl with the massive rack, the elf with Balthiers voice, the elf girl that I had an unexplainable crush on and Varric in it? Varric's a playable character again. the other three are mentioned here and there, mostly talking to Varric or {Spoiler}Hawke apparently Isabela's still off being a pirate but now she's calling herself Admiral, Fenris is still off killing Magisters for shits and giggles and Merrill has become a leader in Kirkwall's elf community.

I'm probably the only person who will ever say this but I actually enjoyed the second game way more than the first. The characters were all so great. Yes the combat was lame and the settings were bad but I really liked those people.

I liked the characters, but besides the combat they re-used areas WAY too much and removed some of the most fun aspects of the game for me. For example, gearing up my party was one of my favorite parts. Speaking of, in Inquisition can you actually control what your party wears or is it just updating their default gear?

Yeah, you can control what your party wears. I have most of my companions, including Varric, wearing Inquisition Armour. I want us to looks like a professional army.

Yeah, you can control what your party wears. I have most of my companions, including Varric, wearing Inquisition Armour. I want us to looks like a professional army. Thanks. That's a plus for sure. you can kit them all up how you want, but every character has their own unique look for how that armor appears on them. so if you give, say, Sera a suit of scout armor and give Varric the same, it'll give them the benefit but it will look different on each of them. then if you give them the sme suit of a different armor, it will look different for each of them. so they basically mixed the idea of equipping each of your team members from the first game with everyone having a unique look from the second game.

I'm interested, but kind of cash poor at the moment since I just got my PS3. Maybe closer to Christmas if I can get a good deal on getting all three Dragon Age games and play through the saga.

Finally beat the game. Enjoyed it very much.
My main team was myself (Archer), Bull, Cole, and Dorian aka the only interesting mage in the entire game. Seriously, who the f*** was Vivienne even?

Without spoiling me on the ending, does the game let you keep playing (and is there a point to doing so) or is it credits/done? I was hoping it was more like Skyrim in that it doesn't really "end".

There's seriously no healing spells in this game? It's funny it's taken me this long to realise, but I kept dying against a boss and was wondering why my mage wasn't healing me. Kind of weird.
And I'd say my favourite characters are Sera, Dorian, and Cassandra. Blackwall and Solas are probably my least fav, just because they're kind of dull.

Only just noticed there are no healing spells to, apart from reviving a downed character. 50 hours into my game, no idea how far i am into the story as iv been all over doing tons of side missions and chatting up Cassandra . I love Iron Bull, badass. Find Sera annoying, Sora and Cullen dull and despise Vivienne. Marked out for Morrigan when she finally turned up.

I am disliking the very poor PC optimization and the fact that tac cam is useless. Also, grabbing loot is a chore, why no click to loot ?

This game's trying to bore me to death making me get forty power. I'm thinking I'm going to have unlock a new area, but that will cost some of the power I've been grinding for the last hour. It's just tedious. I wanna continue with the story, dammit.
And there's too many mountains.

I don't know how this game got such a great critical reception. It feels like the world's loneliest MMO.

So I'm playing Origins (not Inquisition) right now and I'm wondering, for those who have done Inqusition: {Spoiler}How likely does it look that there's a fourth game that goes back to the Warden's story?

Very unlikely. Bioware has pretty much gone on record that each new Dragon Age game will be about a new protagonist. That and since the Warden is a silent protagonist, it's highly unlikely that they'll ever even appear again, let alone star in another game.
