The whole thing about prop I'm wondering if it has something to do with Vince Russo calling it as such.

Always had a problem with the racking up of title wins in the recent era.
Pre brand split if you were World champion, you were champion of the WHOLE company you were in. WCW, WWF whatever.
However a lot of title wins were racked up in the brand split era, which at times meant say on Smackdown you were "World Champion" on a show which had about 15 active wrestlers and of which only 3 were seriously able of holding the top belt.
So comparing such meaningless title runs against legends like Ric Flairs who were legit champs of a whole organisation when the belts meant everything, again some of John Cenas (And others) who were champion of just a "B Show" where belts mean nothing is not an accurate reflection on the real amount of titles won by each men.
I suppose what im trying to say is a British soldier mowing down 100 African tribesmen who were armed with sharpened fruit Vs killing 100 nazi soldiers in hand to hand combat may have the same total of kills but they deserve far from the same recognition and respect.

Because Cena hasn't surpassed Flair where it counts... number of divorces.

I don't count any WCW world title reigns as legitimate after Goldberg lost it, because after that point, WCW descended into utter madness, so that excludes 3 of Flair's reigns.

I don't think people are emotionally invested in the number of world titles runs in the sense that they will cry if Cena makes the new record - but I think if people have been life long fans or long term at least and have financially supported the company and - yes - got emotionally into matches and storylines then I feel people have a right to be critical if/when someone they do not feel is worthy makes a record.
If people feel a title in wrestling is just a prop, then that's no better than fans who think indy wrestling "work rate" and spot monkeys are better than WWE guys because they "do more". Seems the opposite reason of why wrestling has fans in the first place to me. Just my opinion though.

Oh sh- *quickly covers mouth so Nikki Heyman and her "friend" don't hear*

Title reign numbers don't really matter that much in the grand scheme of things.

Because with all the other self-shitting he's done on his legacy, 16-time World Champion is all Ric Flair has left. Let him have it. This is why cena should have it and not flair Flair doesn't deserve it

The only reason I can come up with for why he shouldn't, is that it just seems telegraphed and forced. It doesnt come across organic like say, the streak. It feels "set up".
That said, I don't really care if he does it or not as I never took Flair seriously at all. I'm very critical of Flair for a lot of things and IMO Cena has done more for the world he lives in than Flair has.

Really I couldn't give a toss if Cena ends up breaking Flair's record because considering how many times the belt gets passed around, other than wrestling purest types no one is going to care either way.
