This is my favorite moment in Raw history. Night after WMXI. Sid attacked Shawn, and Shawn is face.
To me, this was unique in that I had never seen anything like it. Logic dictates that Sid should've been the face with the way Shawn berates him.
Also, they scrapped the current feud with Diesel, when in modern day, they'd go with a double turn with Diesel. The next night both are faces and the big rematch never happens until the next year which I.wouldn't exactly call a rematch.
The whole thing is so strange. The whole match with Diesel is interesting booking in itself as the face was, the larger of the two and went over

How could they rebook to make Shawn look like the good guy and Sid the villain in all this? Everything was stated as fast, Sid is a heel what he did was evil, we told by the face announcers, it seemed like they were talking down to the audiance.
What I would have done is have the Wrestlemania match have Shawn take a beaten in which he is defenseless, but not get pinned, something like one of his Wrestlemania matches against Taker in which everyone including Diesel is telling him to "stay down". Have the referee stop the match, have Shawn struggle but get back on his feet mostly by himself with some help from Diesel, Diesel kind of holds him from collapsing, and the fans give them a standing ovation, Sid takes exception and attacks them both.
Off topic, but I like to have Diesel slow heel turn begin in a friendly face vs face title defense match against Shawn before Survivor Series. The match starts like scientific but towards Diesel gets a little desertable and does something question to retain the title.

HBK should have remained a heel. He was at the top of his game in this period, and his face turned killed at my interest in him. I rooted for him as a heel, hated him as a face.

Didnt Sid just join the $$$ Corporation soon after to make it clear who was the heel?

Nash coming in to help his friend was the heel turn. Had Sid attacked him and Diesel did nothing, I bet Sid becomes the face and HBK remains a heel.
Didn't HBK take a month off before returning to beat King Kong Bundy in a KOTR qualifying match? I don't remember an appearence by him before then, but even as a kid I remember it being weird that all of a sudden he was loved by the fans and acting like a total face.

When this happened I was excited for face Sid...then I realized what WWF was going for and got less excited.

It wasn't that successful a face turn. Sid was cheered wildly as he beat up Shawn and Sid was always heavily cheered through that run. What got the most cheers was Diesel saving Shawn.
People always liked seeing the gigolo pipsqueak get beat up
