I read in the past how Survivor Series was held on Thanksgiving day, sometimes on the Wednesday before, and I believe it wasn't until 1995 when it started being held on a Sunday in November.
I wasn't into wrestling when it was a Thanksgiving tradition, but if I was, that would be a good tradition for Thanksgiving every year. Rather than watch a football game on Thanksgiving day, I would rather watch eight-man elimination tag matches. Of course, I am one of the very few, if only, people in my family who is into wrestling.

I came for the giant egg, ended up seeing the debut of the Undertaker.

My family was big into wrestling when I was younger, so it really did become something of a Thanksgiving tradition for a while. Lots of good memories of having dessert with the family waiting to see Hogan and Savage.

The Thanksgiving Eve tradition! I saw every WWF PPV live starting with WM6 and Surivor Series was no exception. Such a cool thing... although I wonder how we would watch these during the week. The one that surprises me that we used to order when I was a kid was Summer Slam. Summer Slam was held on Monday afternoons, at 3 I think, back then.
I have a feeling I sound like Grandpa Simpson here, haha.

had a cousin that ordered Survivor Series 90 and 91. 90 was fun since it was Thanksgiving night. we all had dinner at different houses and then pretty much the entire family wound up at his place for the show. 91 was a bit more subdued, just his son (about a year older than me), me and another cousin. We all wanted him to order Tuesday In Texas but he didn't wind up doing it. that was a pretty big Thanksgiving for me though because the next morning my sister-in-law picked me up to bring me downtown to watch the Macy's parade from her office building. I honestly don't even remember anything about dinner that year.

I never ordered the PPV but I have occasionally watched an old Survivor Series tape on or around Thanksgiving.
Man, I miss the old "traditional" (ugh) survivor series tag team elimination matches. It was such a great way to build up rivalries or tease big matches or put guys in the ring together who we don't typically see paired off.

I wish it was still on Thanksgiving. Starrcade used to be the Thanksgiving show before Survior Series, then it got moved to Christmas time.

We never had it on PPV (Yay sky) but I could never watch it live so I had to record it and watch it before I went to school the next morning

I used to work with someone that was at SS90. I always thought that was cool. I honestly can't remember if my parents ordered them on thanksgiving, but I know they did the thanksgiving eve ones

Commercial for Survivor Series 91 just wraps up....
Heenan: Thanksgiving Eve?! Monsoon: That's right! Heenan: Excellent! Now I can be home on Thanksgiving to open my gifts! Piper: You get gifts on Thanksgiving??!! Heenan: (something to the effect of) Yeah, I deserve them, my family appreciates me!
I murdered Heenan's last line, it's on SummerSlam 91, it's hilarious.

A great idea for a PPV. They shouldn't have ruined it.

I didn't watch it, but I made sure to tune into the scramblevision to hear as much as I could.

With the Network and all, I think they should bring back the tradition and either do it on Thanksgiving Eve or place it that night. With Football occupying the holiday, Thanksgiving Eve might be the best bet. Even bring back the elimination match format.

I think they're missing opportunities to do broadcast events that are themed at house shows, like a six-man tag tourney or 30-minute Iron Man challenge (hosted at different house shows over the course of a month) or "Lethal Lottery" that could be network exclusives. I understand the production values of this, but if they could "NXT it," I know I would be totally cool with it. Plus, that NXT team could broadcast. I freaking love that team.

That's a fantastic idea. Lethal Lottery, battle royals, King of the Ring. It wouldn't even need to have the top stars in it (probably be better without them) to make it worth watching.
