Sigh...I never found. Kaufman or any of his characters funny. It just got lost on me. I know I like some comedians others don't find funny but Kaufman gets hailed as this comedic genius and legend largely because he died so young and right in the middle of his big run

I think Kaufman is loved for the same reason "Loose Cannon" Brian Pillman was.
That said, him vs. Lawler = EPIC.

Fort it's worth, Clifton was awesome in Man On The Moon. "Bullshit, bullshit, my line, bullshit..."

That is all Don't get snarky and sarcastic with me man. You said "Kaufman gets hailed as this comedic genius and legend largely because he died so young and right in the middle of his big run". In other words you were talking about OTHER people's opinions of him since you obviously don't consider him to be a comedic genius. Allow me to quote myself, "Just because you don't like him doesn't mean that others only like him because he died." Telling people who are fans of someone (and who were so before they died and were heartbroken about it) that they only think he's a genius because he died is just plain wrong. That is all.

Name calling over my correction? If it makes you feel good, go ahead. You are right. I am wrong. This is such a minor thing for someone to get upset about. I ain't mad at ya.

I said you were being snarky and sarcastic, but not really name calling. I obviously felt it wasn't a minor thing since I consider myself a fan of his. It's cool though, I'm over it. Speaking of sarcasm though, I think you were obviously being so with that last comment, but yeah, please don't talk to me like that man.

Kaufman was ground breaking, and would've been regardless of his death. That's inarguable, whether you're a fan or not.

I wasn't aware Tony Clifton, himself, was taking part in this thread, what a treat!

I see your logic there.

Then I see the apparent hind part agony in your last line. Yes I took the "snarky" line as name calling. I tried to speak to that, it wasn't received as intended. As to my last three lines, I have used that at least a half dozen times on FAN when disengaging from a heated exchange I did not wish to escalate. I offer blessing upon you and your house again. Pleasent days and pleasent nights

Pleasent days and pleasent nights "Hind part agony"? Seriously lol? Keep your condescension and misspelled blessings. You said something that was a fallacy and slightly offensive. It annoyed me. I called you on it. Simple as that. It's not a big issue man and I'm done feeding you, I just had to laugh and comment on "hind part agony".

Kaufman was cool, but he greatly benefited from the era that he was in, some of the guys from the 80s and earlier would still be funny if they showed up today but Andy was more of a product of his time and the fact that it was way easier to keep the cat in the bag so to speak. Just my ¢.02
