Can somebody summarize this in a paragraph or two? No chance. There's way too much. I'll summarize the part I found the most egregious. In November of 2013 Punk had been feeling sick for a while and the WWE doctors had been packing him full of antibiotics packs. None of them were doing anything but they just kept giving them to him. He came in one day after discovering a lump on his back and the WWE doctor waved it off as a fatty deposit. Punk asked him to cut it off but he wouldn't. That frustrated Punk because he says that doctor would slice things off of the guys like that all the time. Everyone would gather around and it was a locker room thing, but this one wasn't causing Punk any pain so the doc wouldn't do it. This continued for a while longer, meanwhile Punk was getting sicker and sicker. The doctor continued waving it off and refusing to remove it, and Punk started getting angry assuming he was lazy. On the day of the Rumble Punk came in again and now the lump was huge, purple and green, and causing him pain. The doc still wouldn't remove it and used him working the Rumble as an excuse. At the time he left the company he was very ill and the lump still wasn't removed. AJ got Punk to go see her doctor a bit after he left the company because he couldn't sleep on top of everything else. The way Punk puts it, he showed the mass to the new doctor and he immediately knew it was a major MRSA staph infection. When Punk told him how long he had been working with it the doctor told him he should have been dead. Punk said the removal of the puss and crap inside that lump was the most painful shit he's ever gone through. He was put on three months of specified antibiotics and it finally cleared up and he could sleep again.

41 minutes in. Loving it so far. His Michael Hayes impression sounds more like Austin though.

Only a couple minutes in and...jesus. I can't say I ever blamed him for leaving, but now I can say that I'm just glad he got out alive.

AJ got Punk to go see her doctor a bit after he left the company because he couldn't sleep on top of everything else. The way Punk puts it, he showed the mass to the new doctor and he immediately knew it was a major MERSA staph infection. When Punk told him how long he had been working with it the doctor told him he should have been dead. Punk said the removal of the puss and crap inside that lump was the most painful shit he's ever gone through. He was put on three months of specified antibiotics and it finally cleared up and he could sleep again. And if there is any grain of truth to it, and I have no reason to doubt it, if I was Kane, the former Wyatt Family, Bryan or anyone that he worked with in that time, next show I'd be punching that damn doc, Vince and Hunter square in face for exposing me to that shit. Jesus Christ, MRSA, has ended NFL players careers, cost people limbs and even killed but they had no issue with Punk rubbing himself all over these guys? That isn't even taking in account anyone else wrestling on that same mat unless they just happened to sanitize or change it right after Punk's matches.

I wonder if the Austin interview of Vince next week will address anything brought up by Punk in this interview.

For those that want a summary, PWInsider has a write-up of the highlights (some, but not all, of which was covered in Gravedigger's Biscuits's post). And, yeah, if what Punk says about the doctor is even remotely true, then the WWE is practically begging for a disaster. The MRSA stuff that apparently should have killed Punk, and the nonchalance the doctor (and the company as a whole) showed towards concussions. I mean, after Benoit, concussions seem like the sort of thing that WWE should be overly cautious with. But, at least according to Punk, they have a largely bullshit "test" for concussions (Punk says he passed a test when he clearly was concussed and, when he took the test, had his headphones on and was texting Cabana), and will ignore obvious concussions so that the wrestlers don't miss time. Assuming those are true, WWE is unbelievably stupid and irresponsible.

"Punk says he told off Triple H about cutting off his momentum in 2011": So true. HHH, and I love the guy, ruined Punks ascent in 2011.
It would be like if in 1998 as Austin became red hot, Hogan came back and ruined everything.
Cannot wait to listen to this.
I´ve always fantasised about how great it would be to be a wrestler, but I often think whilst the rush of being in the ring sounds great, the actualy physical wear and tear, the travel and the working enviroment sounds horrific.

As someone who has suffered from many staph infections, the thought of him having to wrestle with one makes me cringe. If this is true then I don't blame him for not acknowledging WWE since he left.

One thing on the concussion policy: Punk admits that he refused to take tests when they asked him to and that he insisted he was OK and chose to wrestle more than once with concussions -- and with broken ribs and other serious ailments. So he's as much to blame as WWE on that account.

That stuff about the staph infection is absolutely chilling. Imagine if he had died on WWE's watch, and it was found that they neglected to remove the ball of disease. THAT could have killed the business right there.
That, and the concussion tests possibly being fabricated makes me wonder if there's something really shady going on with WWE's doctors.
On another note, remember the dude on here a while back that met Punk on his wedding day and he was in a really bad mood? You think he had received those termination papers by that time?

So he's as much to blame as WWE on that account. The problem is, the way the wrestling business is run, if you don't work through an injury your push will be dropped and you will forever be perceived as weak (unless you are a Golden boy of the company!). That archaic philosophy within the company has got to change.

So he's as much to blame as WWE on that account. On that front, with the ribs in particular, he'd likely cop to that. Hearing that he had a settlement with WWE goes a long way towards explaining why it took so long for him to open up about things.

I'm so glad to finally have his side. I feel even more justified in defending the guy now. Ignoring staph infections, rushing the guy back from surgeries, pulling questionable stuff with pay. The best part is that he was fired. There you go, detractors. He never quit, and even seemed open to a return until they decided to ignore all his calls and then fire him.
