CM Punk's exit is horribly saddening.

The guy broke through the glass ceiling set for him and made it to the top in 2011, even when the potential he had was still squandered by WWE and what could have been an epic storyline for long-term change and prosperity for the business was all but ruined for him. Even so, he went on to have great matches with some of the best in the business.
The once hungry and healthy CM Punk turned into a tired and sick shell of himself last year when he clearly needed to rest, and while he was working hurt, minus the feud with Lesnar, he was booked horribly and basically WWE wasted our time and his, which makes it all the more stupid that WWE forced him to keep working when he was booked to do crap anyways. Sadly, he went on to walk out due to the frustration, which finally did lead WWE to book the right star to main event WM, Daniel Bryan, but at the cost of someone who also defied odds and did things no one said he could do, CM Punk. It's a shame that Punk's health issues weren't addressed correctly and that he left in such a negative way. It's also a shame that both sides had a nasty fallout and it was all treated terribly. If WWE really wanted Punk back, they probably could have done what they needed to do to get him back, but obviously, they didn't.
It's sad we will never see an in-prime CM Punk and Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same ring. It's sad we will never see John Cena vs. CM Punk again. CM Punk could have been, in my opinion, the face of the company if handled right in 2011, or at least on-par with John Cena. Let both guys "fill in" for each other every so often so you have two great stars that work off each other so well together for the big events, and give one or the other a needed break while keeping the fans entertained. I bet Daniel Bryan, Cesaro, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, or others could do the same, but that's besides the point.
I think CM Punk will return some day, but I think we will never see a full-time CM Punk again, and really, that's basically it for his career, and what a horrible way to end it. He deserved better, but no matter how much pain he fought through, he's probably going to be remembered... or at least represented... by his nasty departure. It's a shame a guy who gave so much apparently now hates the business he dreamed of being a part of. Honestly, I wonder why only CM Punk has been through this (or at least been vocal about it) when you have guys like Dolph Ziggler or Daniel Bryan that are known for always wrestling all the time at the top of their game, but I digress.
I'll never forget Money in the Bank 2011, as it was the best wrestling PPV I've ever seen in my life. Being "aware" of what's behind the business, it's nice to know someone can defy the odds, both on and off the screen. But no matter what happened then, it's over now. It's a shame what happened to CM Punk. I'd like to think there was a better way to handle it, but nonetheless, what happened happen.
I hope WWE learns their lesson and doesn't repeat something like this in the future.
