Greatest and most important wrestler of the last ten years, in my opinion. He never quite got his proper due, despite having an all-around good career.

He's really the only guy who's cracked that tier of favorites that I developed in my childhood. The Bret Harts, the Shawn Michaelsesses, the Stone Colds. CM Punk is right there with them. I never blamed the guy one bit for leaving, but now I'm absolutely glad he did.

Can we really call it a glass ceiling for Punk? He was pushed as a big deal from day 1, regardless of where he was on the card at any particular time.

When he debuted on the 'new' ECW the entire show was booked around him as the main event (remember how Kelly Kelly crushed hardcore on him? and does ANYONE remember the boyfriend she came to ECW with who she dropped like a bad habit? It's not Kevin Thorn but for some reason it seems like it was Kevin Thorn.) Then he received Edge's push x infinity with his multiple Money in the Bank victories. To the point where the ppv MITB has become imho synonymous with CM Punk himself. Kinda like Smackdown being The Rock's show. Money in the Bank briefcase holders are getting dat Punk rub (especially Seth Rollins, his Twinnie).

I find it funny that people are calling Punk a mark for himself and judging him for leaving when the guy wound up having A GOD DAMN STAPH INFECTION that WWE's megadouche of a doctor didn't want to diagnose while Punk was there working. Those of you that say Punk went about things the wrong way, I ask you how you'd have felt if Punk "just sucked it up" and then died of a staph infection.
Punk did the right thing for him and his, and he doesn't owe you anything.
I wish him nothing but happiness in his future.

Honestly, if it was just an "I'm pissed at WWE so I'm going home until things cool off," I'd say the next time we see him is in a WWE ring. However, with what he said.... I'm thinking if he gets the wrestling bug back at some point, he'll probably show up in ROH. Probably not as a wrestler at first, just as a commentator or special guest for a few shows and see what happens from there.
However, if that never happens, oh well.... he's happy, he's healthy, and that's all that matters. I don't expect a tell-all autobiography, as I think it'd end up reading a lot like Bret Hart's book, which really soured my opinion on the Hitman... and Punk has always been clear and honest about being an asshole... so I think that'd come across a lot more in a book.
I also hope, while the truth was going to come out eventually and I'm glad it has, this isn't the start of a bad road. Now, people are going to want to book tons of shoots with Punk to get more dirt on the WWE, people are going to want to milk him for information... right now, while he has no desire to come back to wrestling, and while he says he hates the business.... I don't really think that's the case so much as it's his deterrent for people trying to book him. I do think he still watches wrestling, keeps up with his buddies in the business, and still has a soft spot for it... just he has no desire to return to it in any way, shape or form for the foreseeable future.... but constant badgering about getting more and more info would get him to go to the "f*** wrestling" side of the page, as right now... it's the WWE's shady practices that have him pissed off.... once he's pissed at the fans and the marks... you can kiss him goodbye forever.

He's going to be the new Sammartino. Longest reigning champion in the last 30 years and HHH's and Stephanie's son in law former full time wrestler will convince Punk to get inducted in the Hall of Fame in Chicago

He should create his own small Chicago based indie promotion Book shows now and then. Post it online. Must have loads of contacts. Whatever happened to that one Billy Corgan was trying to start?

I hope Punk writes a book one day. I really do. He's already writing one ... a comic book. Of course, in accepting that gig he probably took work away from some full-time Marvel writer who's there every day. And I bet he gets paid more for it, too.

It's not even an ongoing serious, just a random one-shot. Plus, Marvel hires people for similar jobs on a semi-regular basis. Comedian Brian Posehn is doing the current deadpool run, if I recall. Everyone who does a job is technically taking it away from someone else, and getting upset over something as inane as that just shows how personally biased you are about this dude. Like I get what parallels you're trying to draw, I guess, but it doesn't really work and I dunno why you're forcing it.

No, he'll write it, but it'll only be two pages. One bragging about how he has your money, the other about how much he hates you and everyone else too.

I think CM Punk draws in more heat from some users on this board then Chris Benoit himself
